Just watched A House of Dynamite. Bloody hell! Tense or what? Particularly liked the closing credit soundtrack.

It's Monster Night tonight. What monsters do you find most terrifying: supernatural, alien or...human?

Conflict and change are the engines if story. If a scene doesn't have these, it's just a diary entry.

"Ah, Vinr," Sheval clapped his hands, laughing. "This is going to piss off so many people."

"I can't afford an artist, so I used AI for my book cover, it was the only way." My dude, consumer AI is three years old and people have been releasing indie books for fucking ever. And I promise you, NOBODY undervalues their work the way artists do. You can get amazing work for beans. You're lazy.
One of my fave books. The chapter title 'The piper at the gates of dawn' always stuck with me.

An old wildfowler told J Wentworth Day of a 'rum owd feller' who one night came to his hut on Canvey Island, #Essex (still rustic then). He was a tall man with a sword and a winged 'helm'. He sadly said he was searching for his ship back home, then wandered away across the mudflats.

If I ever had the money, I'd open a SFF&H bookshop in Bristol with a comprehensive selection of new and classic books, a comfy reading room, a log fire, and a variety of hot beverages. Maybe a couple of shop cats, and plenty of author events.

#Writetip: To write good fiction you have to be a keen observer of reality. You have to understand how the world works in order to create your own fake one. Write stories that your readers can really connect with because a little truth goes a long way!

I do not know why THE BOOK OF ACCIDENTS ebook is on sale at all of your chosen electromagic bookmonger sites, but it is. So if you want a haunted house, a mysterious boulder field, a nightmare coal mine, a family under siege, and a disappearing serial killer — well, this might be the book for you.

The Dragon's Egg Nebula.

This nebula in Norma is close to the famous "Fighting Dragons of Ara" hence its name. Captured from my Bortle 7-8 backyard in Sydney. This received a Highly Commended in the recent Astrophotography Prize & a top-pick on Astrobin: www.astrobin.com/qkmfea/ 🔭 #astrophotography

I'm sure you're all getting bored of the Magic, Maps, and Mischief promo, but with no publisher behind me, I have to do what I can!

The early reviews have been lovely to see... especially given this book's rough road to publication.

What are you reading? I’ve just started the cosy sci-fi - The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers- Do share the #womenwriters whose pages you are turning. #amreading
I'm trying to get back into the habit of always having a book at hand. In a quiet 5 minutes, rather than looking at my phone, I pick up the book and read. Boy, do I feel better for it.

Some days the words flow like magic, and other days… even the blinking cursor feels judgmental. Still, there’s something beautiful about showing up to write anyway, isn’t there?
