Note how the BBC article fails to give any hint of the fact that EU citizens in the UK (as well as Brits in the EU), entitled or not to citizenship, are paying tax and NI contributions same as everybody else, thus legitimising Farage's argument, making it sound as if the UK was giving something away
Fantasy numbers.

Many of those "EU nationals" claims he can cut benefits to *are already UK citizens*.

Almost all the rest are entitled to UK citizenship.

Idea this will save any significant sum is simply absurd.

Anyone upset by people making the link between the jewellery policy and Nazis need to ask themselves one question: why has the government mentioned this plan?

It won’t provide much money. It won’t be a deterrent. So why?

The only reason can be to send a message. What do you think that message is?
November 17, 2025 at 2:57 PM
The thing about the “taking jewellery from refugees” idea which already wound me up back when Danish “Social Democrats” came up with it is its redolence of Nazi authorities plundering Jews which is so obvious you think it MUST be on purpose.

I can’t see any other outcome than a President Kast in Chile 🇨🇱 and that is very bad news.

- Kast is NOT “just a conservative”. He is far right with ideological and personal ties to the Pinochet regime.

- Kast is NOT a Chilean Trump. He is much more capable and a professional politicians.

Nipped over to Vienna this week, went to the opening of the Isotype/Otto Neurath exhibition at Wien Museum, highly recommend for a dose of socialist optimism (even if it’s from 100 years ago). One thing to see reprints of those pictorial statistics, quite another to see the originals in the flesh.
