Does anyone know of peer-reviewed work on Collier's African/American Library? This piece is good and includes great cover images, but is very short justseeds.org/240-colliers...

If you have any leads on any jobs, I'm still looking. I'm in a suburb of Boston, but can relocate if the salary is sufficient to pay full rent/loans/living expenses (as I'd be moving without my husband).

My specialisms are US post-war culture, Hollywood, & media literacy. My CV is available here:
Vaughn Joy - Black and White and Read All Over
Vaughn Joy is an independent researcher, author of Review Roulette, and the site creator, designer, and administrator of Black and White and Read All Over.

Every, I mean EVERY White American should be forced learn about the Tulsa and Rosewood, along with the myriad, full-blown racist massacres, white Americans have committed against Black Americans, throughout U.S. History whenever we were able to actually thrive and control our own economies.

I can’t go to the grocery store alone right now because ICE is racially profiling and abducting people who aren’t white
Despite Trump’s promises, grocery prices are still rising fast. Families can’t afford this… when is he going to get serious about lowering costs?

Remain radicalized.
Remember why.
Protect your communities but never take advantage of them.
Respect those who take the time to respect you.
Respect others and yourself.
Give yourself grace to make mistakes.
Build your mind.
Protect your heart.
Do no harm but take no shit.
Love one another.
Be well.

Fairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…

Dr. King suffered many bouts of severe depression. His autopsy found that he had a heart consistent with a 60 year old. He was murdered at 39. Stress, threats and exhaustion will do that to a person.

Hey, people are permanently losing their eyesight at some of these protests and have been for some time. These people, the ones that have put their bodies on the line, are among the people who would benefit from your usage of alt-text when posting protest related imagery.

Hey folks Calvary Food Shelf has been helping out people in Minneapolis for 30 years, and now they’re ramping up to meet the crisis, including doing home deliveries so people don’t have to risk going out.

They’re just over halfway to their current goal—let’s get them all the way, shall we?

Photo of the Day.

A young woman, identifying herself as disabled & going to a doctors appointment, had her car windows smashed, was dragged out, cuffed & led away by ICE agents.

The incident happened at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, not far from Renee Good’s murder.

For centuries, a “gossip” was a woman who attended another woman's delivery. The word was a corruption of “god-sib” or “god-sibling,” meaning “sister in the Lord.” The gossips offered support to mother & midwife. Only later did it become derogatory.

And this is still true. My streak of zero use ever continues, so I’m not asking anything of them I don’t commit to and practice myself.
One reason AI companies stress alleged benefits *to instructors* when marketing to ed settings: If teachers are using it, then they have no moral ground to prohibit students from doing so. Which is why I commit to students up front that I haven’t & won’t use it in any aspect of the courses I teach.
