The reason I do Sanskrit Calligraphy is because I believe the act of concentration on the sacred word and writing it down is an act of devotion. Repeating a mantra is called japa, and it is a form of meditation.
In Japan, the act of calligraphy can also be a meditation. It is known as Hitsuzendō,

with the "Department of War" account on here not getting suspended for death threats I think it's fair to say that if you make a joke about killing someone on here, it's bad but if you mean it, it's fine? I dunno, policy needs tweaking I think

I always think “learning loss” compared to what?

Compared to what they would’ve learned on an alternate earth that *didn’t* experience a massive and global deadly pandemic?
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

Here in Broadview, outside Chicago, a large group of faith leaders & protesters have gathered this morning outside of ICE’s detention center.

This looks like one of the largest protests on Beach St. in weeks, where the city of Broadview is still enforcing a small “free speech” zone. It’s packed.

The last one I heard from her The Occasion project was pretty nice, so I have high expectations.

Done!
I feel like this is a step up over the last album!
There is always a deep longing for connection, companionship and love in this, that makes all of @vanessafunke.bsky.social's pieces deeply relatable.
And on top of that, she always makes everything sound so good!

Highly, highly recommended!

When i was college, the school held a screening of this movie and had a small, experimental orchestra perform a soundtrack the conductor had composed for it. It was haunting and atrangely beautiful.
