I don't think they were TradCath, but the superintendent of my Catholic school was definitely old-time Catholic. Thought cheerleading was inherently sinful & forced the girls to lengthen their skirts & not jump a lot. Eventually got rid of the squad. Also thought the town had a anti-Catholic bias.

So, I hold to my theory that "The American Dream" to a startling number of people isn't "The white picket fence & comfortable retirement", but rather to be rich enough that the laws and social norms don't matter anymore. If anyone on the Epstein list faces actual consequences, I'll be shocked.

I've always said that GenX has this myth that we were all The Goonies, but some of our generation was the rich kids who's parents were trying to build the golf course. They are the ones in power now, along with their parents.
