I am my Father's Son, my Mom's Southern Gentleman, a doting husband, proud dad, prouder grandpa, warrior, writer, poet, pirate, and a singular rakish wit.
Never will understand old folks, "being proud," of someone having to endanger their life UNNECESSARILY to go to work b/c they're too stupid to close when the store is buried under a foot of snow in a state that never gets that much snow.

Emergency personnel is different & I'm grateful.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

bro there’s a gofundme to crowdfund attorney fees for a preschooler who was kidnapped by our federal government and shipped across state lines and his senator is posting about high school hockey while every other elected official is debating whether to give a zillion more dollars to the kidnappers

I keep saying this:
Artificial Intelligence is intelligent like a hoverboard can hover.

Monopolistic consumerism does not innovate.

From the article: "CES 2026 was the 'year of robotics' in the same way that somebody is a sailor because they wore a captain’s hat while sitting in a cardboard box."
Premium Newsletter: The comparisons between the AI bubble and the Dot Com bubble don’t make sense, because what’s coming will be far, far worse. GPUs are not fiber, AI startups are all worse businesses than Pets.com, and the crash threatens a global contagion.

I'm gonna stab in the dark...
The recent Cloudflare outages over the last few months, now Verizon's 10~ish hour dead-air--are signs of post-integrated-AI systems reaching entropy & cratering... We're going to see so much more of this in the coming months we'll actually long for the stability of AOL.

The Internet is forever.

"You can't stop the signal, Mal." -- Mr. Universe
Your comments and posts are forever. You won’t be able to burn letters like it’s 1945. There will be a clear record for your kids and your grandkids to see you supported this and I wish you nothing but crippling regret and shame because you decided to believe propaganda over your own eyes.

As a 30-year-veteran sysadmin, I stand vehemently opposed to AI in its current form.

As IT in Creator spaces, don't try to make AI more than it is.

As a gamer, get that weak shit out of my entertainment. Keep out of my comms.

Discord asked. Tell them.

In my neck of the woods the price of gas is ~$2/USG.

The average tank capacity for the majority of vehicles (excluding commercial heavy) is less than 20 gallons.

Why TF is there a bank hold at the pump big enough to fill an 85 gallon tank?
Oh, right. Banks can't math--why they needed bailouts.

User: Hi! I'd like a wake up call.

Hotel front desk: The entire modern web infrastructure you rely on is held together by a handful of volunteer run opensource projects, and if one lead maintainer decides to delete their repository today, the global economy would stall by noon.

AI is shite. How do I know?

I've had a long-standing problem with music streaming services...
I have a "liked," catalog of 8K+ songs and the algorithm plays the same 18 songs over and over when I ask for a random selection from my library.
AI reduces the number of different songs played by half.

💯 justified outrage
Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

they didn't need AI to make Silksong, it just needed some deeply insane guys to have a blank check for living expenses until their next thing was done, I think we should try doing more of that instead

To all app devs:
Stop asking me if I like your app while I'm using it.

I'm USING it.
There are always other options. If I like them more I would use them instead.

If you interrupt normal usage to ask how I like using it, the feedback is ALWAYS negative. Always.

I say this as someone whose entire job is finding the narrow use cases in which AI is actually useful:

All the fear about AI, all the reluctance to adopt it, is entirely legitimate, and a product of the fact that it's been foisted on the public with no consideration of its negative externalities.
I continue to have no sympathy left for whinging about how the public are rude about AI and feel threatened by it when the biggest players in the AI space have spent years very vocally and constantly *threatening the public*
