Said it before and I'll say it again. Endless procession of clown cars.
the AT&T-->Time Warner-->Discovery series of media mergers were some of the most pointless and disastrous business exercises ever conceived by man

so of course we're going to do it again

this time it's rumored they want $60 billion to sell this mess to Larry Ellison and whatever's left of CBS
Warner Bros. Discovery puts itself up for sale
The announcement comes after WBD previously said it would split in two.

I just had the realization that anyone who experienced season 1 of Kaiji through the dub is getting the *FULL* Kaiji experience.
Mentally I'm preparing for the day Wizards of the Coast announces a collaboration with Pokemon or One Piece and I never see an actual card in the set because every pack vanishes into the aether.
Laughs and then sobs uncontrollably in Magic the Gathering.
The fact this show changed hands as many times as it did and never got a home video release or dub is one of the great shames of the mid-00s anime scene.
You could tell me Crunchyroll was laundering money through their dub studio and I'd believe you at this point.
It Looks like we will be getting an English Dub for Bogus Skill <<Fruitmaster>>: About That Time I Became Able to Eat Unlimited Numbers of Skill Fruits (That Kill You) (No Release Date Yet).

A Voice Actor Accidentally revealed they worked on it.

"I need the biggest subtitles you have."

"No...that's too big."

-Someone at Crunchyroll, probably
TFW when you learn someone you were very harsh about on Dub Talk went on to produce on one of the biggest shows Adult Swim currently has in their catalog.

You legit love to see it.

I'm writing an article on the new Crunchyroll subtitling pipeline, and at this point I'd really like to get in touch with someone who does subtitle work for CR and has had to deal with said pipeline already to confirm my findings. DMs are open, you can be an anonymous source. Please spread the word!
You wanna know what's really scary? The changes you made to your subtitles. Revert them to the way they were before please.

Can confirm that they're an absolute nightmare for visual impairments. It's an absolute shame, because their old font was the most readable of any streaming service by far
I gave myself a headache trying to read the subtitles of Yano-kun this afternoon. Revert your subtitles to the way they were before, @crunchyroll.com or I will pull my subscription.

offerings and how big a company they are these days, cheaping out like this is honestly inexcusable

You need to fix this @crunchyroll.com

They aren't completely unreadable, but I did have to strain my eyes a couple of times to read them, so can't imagine how much worse it is for anyone with visual impairments. I've seen worse from other official services but between subtitled simulcasts being one of Crunchyroll's primary

Checked out the new simulcast Yano-kun's Ordinary Days, and it seems like a cute enough show but I ended up getting REALLY distracted by how distractingly bad Crunchyroll's new subtitle font is
They're moving away from Aegisub in favor of a client that is backwards compatible with other platforms. Unfortunately the formatting is ass-backward.

Update on this: more fall seasons are starting to roll out on Crunchyroll, and they all seem to be using Closed Caption Converter. It's hard to overstate how dumb this is. They're destroying one of their major competitive edges in the name of some asinine "compatibility" with their competitors

Some details: It seems that for at least two new in-house subtitle releases (A Wild Last Boss Appeared 01, Kaiju No8 23), rather than the usual Aegisub the subtitles were created in "Closed Caption Converter", which cannot do styled on-screen text at all. CR work with Aegisub on left, CCC on right.
So far it has been everything, including the finale of Kaiju No.8 according to reports. It's a change of the software client they're using in-house.
