A lot of people seemingly miss out on the fact that most e-bike users riding a bike instead of driving are doing so because they can't afford a car. Most americans own cars so they see it as an expensive hobby purchase instead of necessary transportation.

The most glaring example of this is Hayato's death in ZZ. He's the prototypical "dad who stepped up" & yet his death is almost treated like atonement for Katz's death because Hayato permitted his son to join AEUG.
The one thing I do find kind of fascinating about UC Gundam gender bullshit is how consistently Tomino seems to despise how fathers influence their children. Yeah there's the old vs young dichotomy, but aside from Bright I can't think of another UC Gundam dad who isn't killed off.
