Absolutely this.

The lies are the biggest story, one which the BBC is wholly omitting/denying.

So I ask again, what is going on at the Corporation?
This "conflicting accounts" narrative of the BBC's is a much bigger problem than they seem to think.

The huge issue is not false balance - it's that they're NOT reporting the biggest story of today: the fact the US Government is lying about its own forces killing a US citizen.

They know what they say is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

The media know that what they repeat is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Their supporters know what they are told is untrue, they do not care it is untrue.

Telling the truth is not enough, unless people care about the truth.

Marimar Martinez was the first US citizen shot by ICE.

They claimed she was a terrorist. Said she was brandishing a weapon.

They lied. Video footage exonerated her and showed the ICE agent shot her five times.

He bragged to other agents “five shots, 7 holes”.

We see, rightly so, outrage at the two recent murders of US citizens by ICE.

What is interesting is the degree of that outrage, compared to when Black or Hispanic US citizens are murdered by 'law enforcement'

The US has long been a sick, violent, racist society.

Not the City on the Hill.

The absurd lengths of two-sidism they're going to, in this case, also shows Trump's legal action has already done its job. Cowed in advance

This perfectly demonstrates the pernicious nature of BBC two-sidism.

It almost always benefits the side with the most power.

In this case that's the side which is murdering peaceful protesters in the street, on camera, and then lying about it
The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible.

It leads on "sharply contested narratives"

It has a dramatic skew to the US government

It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

One small but notable sign of the rightward shift in UK politics in recent years is the use of “illegal migrants” for asylum seekers who arrive unofficially. It’s a dehumanising term which was popularised by the hard right and is now - as here - used repeatedly in Home Office press releases.

Farage is a traitor. I don’t use the word lightly but his behaviour is in the definition of the term. Simple.
In case you missed it: My suggestion that Farage was whispering to Trump behind the scenes while Trump was going after Greenland has been essentially confirmed.

As @jamesdaustin.bsky.social notes: Working against your country's interest with a semi-hostile state - there's a word for that.
