Time to paint in a thousand shades of black
We're reopening to submissions on January 1st.

Writers, ready your most depressing, unnerving, dislocating, horrible stories.

Just left a voice memo that was nothing but me saying "TEN THOUSAND SWORDS" in a wide variety of line readings. Honestly? Good use of my time.

When I was a kid I had a processing disorder that kept me from writing (since overcome by years of building a Rube Goldberg machine in my brain) but I could draw scary monsters and spend recess with my best friend (now brother-in-law) coming up with complex lore for our critters.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

BG3 is one of my three favorite games of all time but if Larian doesn't cut it out with the AI clownery I probably just won't play Divinity. I don't care if nothing AI-made makes it into the final product, I just simply despise this shit too much to not give my attention to something more deserving.

So nice to get a visit from the neighbors--I'd been worried about them since it'd been like a year since they last showed up in the middle of the night to scream and cackle outside my window.

(My neighbors are coyotes.)

Imagine you were having an affair with the princess you were supposed to be guarding.

Imagine she loved to dabble in the dark arts.

Imagine she disappeared in a lab explosion, and now ya gotta use all your lowlife contacts to get hold of a wizard so your ass isn't on the chopping block!

It's time for slower art. The constant churn and grind pushed by techno capitalism has reached its inevitable conclusion with AI slop. Let's make our best work and be patient with our process. Let's release art that's worth stopping for and savoring. Let's show each other what humans can do

Sapphic, ultra-violent Princess Bride-style pining romance between a heathen berserker and her Christian childhood best friend as the former goes to war against an eldritch apocalypse and the latter discovers she's a nascent sorceress touched by the old gods.

Sitting pretty atop my TBR pile
Just read the delightful Beating Hearts & Battle Axes anthology of sword&sorcery&romance stories. All were fun, but my faves were @brynhammond.bsky.social's rollicking A Day in Irighaya, T.A. Markitan's fierce Luck is Blind, and the high adventure of @valerievaldes.bsky.social Cold Curse of Drathe.
