Per CDC source: At internal leadership meeting this afternoon, it was shared that 1,257 people were RIF'd at CDC. Number may not be final. Apparently, chief of staff was unaware that RIFs were going to occur so not clear who is making decisions. (Short 🧵)

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

They pay into government funded healthcare programs, but can't access them except in case of emergency.

Emergency Medicaid spending accounted for less than 1% of total Medicaid spending in 2023.

Trump’s authoritarian agenda is not popular. His big, ugly bill is not popular. Ripping health care away from millions of Americans is not popular.

This is a teachable moment. Autism is genetic. Undiagnosed autistic mothers might take more Tylenol during pregnancy because of painful sensory issues. Assigning causation is the study's fallacy. Many autistic parents only get diagnosed after their children are because they share autistic traits.
