Freedom as non-domination explains this. By moving people from being at the mercy of other people into being operating within the law, we actually do free them from domination.
Look it's weird to say "the city is liberation. Bigness is liberation. Bureaucracy is liberation." But it so often is. The village is inherently tyrannical. Sherly Jackson knew this.

There’s not a solitary soul on Bluesky who would vote for MTG in a general election, what are we arguing about? It’s good when Republicans fight on national television. We should encourage them to do so.

We cannot be post-liberal because we are not yet liberal. We haven’t harvested the wide field of liberty our forebears sowed. But we will. The thugs and tyrants have been fighting their rearguard action for two hundred and fifty years and they’ve been losing inch by inch.
