Life’s so much better when you don’t log on.

Fort Collins, Seattle, LA
I’ve been spending a lot of time in an area of upstate New York primarily made up of Patriots fans. I got them good with the “how do you say ‘yes’ in Spanish?” joke today.

“Sí.”

“Hawks!”

Their groans could’ve shook the building.

We need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason

The snow pack is very bad in Colorado so far. We’re going to need Californians to keep their showers to five minutes this summer.
Unfortunately, this is the lowest snowpack on record for Colorado River headwaters (below). Only 56% of where it should be for late January.

About 40 million people over 7 states rely on Colorado River drinking water - serving Denver, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

This is one of my favorite charts because the obvious implication is ... obvious, but you absolutely are not allowed to say it out loud in US public discourse.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

The cost is getting too high for Trump. Fall guys have to step in. This is the problem with committing human rights violations for dictators. No matter how well protected you think you are, before he's going down, you're going under the bus. Once he 's gone, you're sitting on the bench in Nuremberg.

The naivety of the chattering class is in full effect tonight.

“The dam is breaking…”

“Even some Republicans are upset…”

It’s Lucy with the football day in and day out with these people. Until Trump is out of power and MAGA is moved to the extreme edges of society, nothing is accomplished.

The Seahawks and Rams played each other three times this year. After 12 quarters and an OT, the final tally is Seahawks 87 - Rams 85. What a rivalry.

Many of us have been making this very obvious point since 2016. I truly don’t understand how so many smart, educated people could be so naive.
"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," Jonathan Rauch argues. "'Fascist' best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse." theatln.tc/wVq7MFaa

The senseless murder of Alex Pretti is finally showing everyday folks that the Trump regime is beyond any redemption. And in an anti-religious age, it's sparked a quest for a new American morality

It's beyond politics now. This is about good vs. evil

Alex Pretti’s ICE murder is beyond politics. This is about good vs. evil | Will Bunch
Trump's inhumane immigration raids and two ICE murders has triggered an American yearning for a return to morality.

Tim Cook and Andy Jassy—and the rest—are accommodating an authoritarian who is presiding over a secret police force killing American citizens. The blood of Renee Good and Alex Pretti is on the hands of those who enable Trump. Hope they like the movie.
On tonight’s White House agenda:

Trump and guests will get a private screening of MELANIA, the documentary about the First Lady, @thr.com reports.

Attendees include Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Mike Tyson, per the article.

This was Alex Pretti at work at the VA honoring a veteran who had passed.

This is who they're trying to falsely smear as a terrorist and assassin.

Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.
