This comment has a strong guns-don't-kill-people vibe.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

Every time the shocking, perplexing tactic of “giving money to people who need it” is tried, it turns out to work.

And yet people who have more money than they could ever need remain baffled.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

A variation on the story from the other day about how many teens think factual reporting is routinely made up:
I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

It doesn’t happen as much over here, but discourse around “do we need to only focus on CO2 or should we instead focus on methane” is wrong.

Yes, the gases behave differently in the atmosphere. But CO2 & CH4 emissions are *both* still rising. And CO2 & CH4 emissions *both* need to quickly fall.
Global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions rise again in 2024, up 2.3%.

This is our collective progress, 10 years after the Paris Agreement.

Have your relatives died? Do you miss them? Does that make you sad?
Have you considered paying a company to animate a photo of them to give it four or five seconds of movement?
That’ll surely help.
