The closest theater options for me are the two that are so cold I spend 3 hours bundled in my heaviest coat or the super spendy one that gives me a blanket and delivers food to my airline-style cubby so I can eat without utensils in the dark.
All of this money spent on this study and not a single mention of things that might keep people away: disruptive audience behavior, increasingly poor technical presentation, every shrinking theatrical windows (or day and date indies). I love theaters, and go multiple times a week, but it’s grim.
How Can Movie Theaters Fill More Seats Again? A Bain Report Shares Suggestions

Yesterday I listened to some average Christmas music for a fake-it-til-you-make-it strategy and it might have worked. I’m actually decorating today and by decorating I mean puttering with houseplants and working up to decorating.

Hey, if you’re a Seattle/WA author with a book coming out next year and you have a firm pub date, please let me know for potential inclusion in the Seattle Times’s 2026 book preview. (Space is limited but I’ll do my best.)

Drop a link either in replies or at my email: [email protected].

One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. “Stg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

I had a dream last night that was so unusual and vivid with its WTFness that I'm not even sure how to capture it in the journal I've been keeping full of dreams and spam texts and I don't think I want to.

Gluten-Free Pink, Use by 1989 for Pinkest Results. A collaged box I made for Red Dot Miami and Art San Diego a couple of years ago. The box is deliberated weighted (just over 2 pounds) so that it feels off center when you pick it up. 10 1/2 x 6 1/4 x 1 7/8 inches.

The adorable hellbeast is convalescing from a bad paw sprain after falling from the roof so when he demands lap time, he gets lap time. He also has mastered telling me when he’d like to be carried around the house.

I Might Have Been Stoned When the Vortex Shimmered and the Myth of Dry Clean Only Unravelled. 20 x 16 inches. 2023.

This was a collage I made for Jen Tough Gallery in Santa Fe using some materials I was obsessed with -- those blue scraps, the hand, the silk scraps.

This is my Tom Holland lip sync video. Every time I encounter this man making a pile of grilled cheese sandwiches I am compelled to watch a time or two for reasons.

It’d be cool if there was some kind of warning system, like the Bsky icon turning orange or something, to indicate that another Lizza post is on the loose.

(There’s not, btw. At least not yet.)

I consider it a peak achievement of humanity that I can send letters around the world from my tiny rural post office and those letters get transferred between at least two different postal systems and we have somehow worked out that process.

i am going to be equally honest, the USPS accounts for less than a single percentage point of federal spending despite being one of the most complex and sophisticated logistical agencies in the world, this is a crank hobby horse

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
