Into art, illustration, writing, and board games. Favorite subjects to draw or photograph are buildings and landscapes, and I like writing about the possibility that everything could turn out even better than we imagine. (she/her) #art #photography #wip

Welcome to my piece of the sky, new followers. :D

I've been quiet lately, mostly because my work on 1001 Odysseys is taking up all of my writing time and I don't have any fresh illustrations or photos to show you...yet.
Innovations Ultimate is on its way, and I'll share that once it gets here.
The grasses of the wetlands dry and go to seed in the autumn, making a wide, rustling field in the midst of the trees. The birds were active here too.

Original photograph, taken by me at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary.

I interrupted my daily walk today to spend about an hour sketching Swains Pond. The clouds kept rolling by overhead, dimming the whole landscape and then returning it to glowing, brilliant splashes of autumn leaves.

Oh hey, it's Innovation! At Essen!
For the first time ever, our games are for sale at a booth at Essen! Innovation Ultimate and base 4th edition, and new print runs of Mottainai and Meow, and of course the Good Puppers you deserve.

While the weather was amazing yesterday, we went to a wildlife sanctuary that's just north of Boston. The birds were very active, flitting about from tree to tree and calling to each other.

There's just something about autumn along a pond in New England.

Went to the pond yesterday to enjoy the beautiful autumn day and take a few pictures of the ducks and the changing leaves.

Here's another capture of the same rock wren. It cracks me up because the bokeh ball reminds me of a halo in a religious Medieval painting.

Fundice and Dicelium.

I did not do this on purpose, the puns demanded to be freed.
I'm still here! Sorting through 25 years of digital files is taking awhile, so I'm not posting so much.
Please accept this inky doodle of some cat-esque animals. #doodle #ink #animal #blackandwhite
One of the cats in the left sample has 2 tails.
The question really becomes what counts as being part of board gaming? I personally like a really broad view. Game conventions and stores, sure, but also games at home and games you inherit from the people around you. Bridge nights, chess in the park, summer camp.
A big topic for another time.
Of course, I never even considered that board game conventions existed. I don't know if there was a FLGS nearby. All the games we played were from toy stores or classics found in grandma's basement or another game to play with a standard deck of playing cards.
My board gaming in the 90s was exclusively with family or school friends. Genders were equally mixed, and the games we played were casual or traditional. Not much need to QB Taboo.
Even when we started playing MTG in the 00s, we didn't run into QB problems because we already knew each other.

A gull right as it dives underwater. I think it's an immature ring-billed gull

If you set your standard price high enough, you will be able to offer pieces at sale prices sometimes. For example, if you sold 5 pieces for $30/hr, you could essentially give away a sixth piece. Your average would still be $25/hr.
The crux of course is selling the first 5. Genuinely: good luck.
Fill your mouth with water and the pill, look down so the pill floats up into your throat, then swallow.
I think you can 'train' where your hair parts, but it takes a while? I went from center to side ages ago but don't recall doing much more than always parting it where I wanted the new part.

Something very very weird happened during the Hugos award ceremony... It's been on my mind for days, and so I wrote this blog: "When People Giggle at Your Name, or the 2025 Hugo Awards Incident"

A variety of still photos from my trip to Háifoss in Sept 2022 that I posted the video of. Beautiful and impressive place :)

I feel like there was someone who was working on a tag and icon-a hand with a spiral-but I haven't been able to find it again.
Hoping to be able to focus on what IS IN a post when I tag it. Helps discussion stay on topic and is shorter that way.
To creators out there who post art/things they've created without the aid of generative AI:

Is there a commonly used short hashtag that emphasizes positive, not negative?

I've seen #NoAI #CreatedWithoutAI but both focus on negative. Would love to find short tag that focuses on human aspect.
I do this from time to time.
Other tags that might be helpful in your search are specific traditional media types.
Your proposed hastag is challengening because I prefer to talk about what my art IS rather than what it is not. A tag about being made by a human would be easier. (Is there one?)
