Hold my quarter-wave cable! UV-VIS has one over #NMRchat. We are using pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1... for our yearly Sensors & Devices course run by @vsaggiomo.bsky.social and some of the experimental details are... esoteric?

The Dutch national news is running a story about measles in Alberta, Canada. But the picture they post with it shows a sign in a English/German/Dutch bastard language?? Anyone who knows what this is? @nmr900.bsky.social, you're my foremost online Canadian contact 😅

I made a thing!

It's an EPR capillary flow system for 8 mm collets, using a 1mm OD capillary for aqeous and lossy samples. #NMRchat

User: I think your shims are bad
Me: <5000 word email about how my shims are fine, actually, but the data was acquired improperly before and actually these spectral features that are now apparent should be interesting to you even if they're creating extra work, sorry not sorry>

People always ask me : “Cristi, how do you manage parenting a baby while going up for tenure?”

It’s easy. The secret is *flow-based-scheduling*. Here are its three core strategies for new academic parents:

Sleep when the baby sleeps
Cry when the baby cries
Publish when the baby publishes

Google search has become so useless. I forgot Lidia Gall's name and googled "Russian woman who invented electrospray" and the first result that comes up (after the AI slop) is the Wikipedia page for Marie Curie.

No fans of processcing CPMGs on Topspin using 'proc_t1'? #NMRchat
I'm trying to measure T2 using 'cpmg' and processing it using 'proc_t1' as per the manual on Bruker. CPMG uses a vclist, while proc_t1 loads a vdlist. Do I just copy the vclist values to a vdlist ('t2delay'), or do I need to correct these values with 'D20' for instance? #NMRchat #T2Thursday
