🏹 ch 14: the convo between Newland and Winsett struck me as a reverse echo of the convo between Newland and May re: elopement. "Break the pattern! Let's do it and be legends!" Vs "Noooo, it's vulgar." Also, "the green mould of the perfunctory," great line. Ch 15: Middlemarch reference, I see you!

I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

My reading snagged on, "whose real name was Mrs. Thorley Chivers," just, man. It reminded me of seeing my grandparents' passport from 1971--passport singular, issued to [grandfather's name], with fields for his height, birthdate, hair color, eye color, and Wife. 🏹
