Male allies. A woman I follow was called "hysterical" on here today. The only person who stood up for her was another woman. Even when these terms are used by someone on your own side, you need to call it out. These centuries old mysoginist slurs need to stop. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
Feisty, flounce and bossy: the words used to put women down
Emine Saner: Do you ever hear men described as ‘hysterical’? Do people say they ‘whine’ or ‘nag’? Thought not. Here are eight sexist words we’d like to never hear from again

Tonight, @europarl.europa.eu glows in orange.

A light for every woman and girl who has suffered in silence.

A promise to every woman and girl who deserves safety, dignity, and a life free from fear.

We owe them more than awareness.

We owe them change.

This 100%
It’s racist scent marking. That’s all they are, that’s all it displays. As a nation, we’ve never needed such blatant displays of nationalism. We were always confident in who we are. Flags were just for occasions.

Also hilarious, for want of a better word, that British ‘patriots’ are amplifying & funding foreign actors who live in unsafe countries & have never been near Britain slagging off Britain. Good old Elon.
I see a lot of Paidchecks on X didn’t realize that a whole lot of people on social media lie about their location to grift off the naïveté of the rage-addled American right.

Turns out this problem is real and it’s a thing those of us who worked on “disinformation” pointed out.

So migrants who have paid into the system for years will be defrauded. We are going to take pensions away from people who have potentially paid into the system for decades. I can see a costly class action with the Govt losing.
Farage: I have never been involved with Putin and his chums or done their bidding!

Also Farage: vote me PM and I will create a huge bust up with the EU which will destabilize Europe and only benefit Putin and his chums.
Reform UK are going to announce a policy where all EU citizens will be stripped of all benefits and double the NHS surcharge

They will be given 3 months notice. If the EU refuses to accept these terms, there will be a ‘trade retaliation’ with the EU?

Race to the bottom in the sewage of racism.

I imagine you won't be alone.
It's as if they have to come up with something even more cruel & inappropriate each day.
It's sickening.
Holy fuck, this is where we are. A Labour Home Secretary just posted this image. I voted for these fucks and have been a member of the party for more than 30 years. Today I quit and so happy that I have.

I am a migrant. I understand (some of) what it is like to have that fact treated as a negative, even a threat.
But that's nothing compared to the fear that foreigners settled in the UK are feeling right now, even those Labour promise have nothing to fear.
I'm fine with being an immigrant or migrant as well, because it's what I am.
I'm fine with "immigrant". I'm an immigrant (or a migrant) from the EU. A migrant is just a person who's left their birth country to live in a different country. That's what humans have been doing ever since humans have been in existence - we, our species, are migrants.

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

No words/Non ci sono parole.
The worst part for me back then was openly being told to go back to where I came from, which is how I came to exit Twitter for good, and look at the cesspool it has become. I rest my case!

His best? It wasn't the egg and spoon in pre-school. Thousands of people died who should have lived and he just walked away and is apparently making millions.
Rachel Johnson defending her brother on @lbc.co.uk currently just blamed the "statest establishment" for the failures.

"He's getting all the blame and none of the credit" and "he did his best."

Really Rachel? Well his best was appalling. This wasn't a gold club tombola. It was a pandemic.

Wonder if betting shops are offering odds as to which Party these MEPs belonged to.
Key points: Met police say investigation into other politicians is ongoing. Gill sought to recruit multiple MEPs including 4 British ones.

The judge gave strongest possible quotes about the gravity of the crime and the damage done to public trust.

⚠️Gill played a prominent role in the Brexit campaign in Wales and was one of only two MEPs who followed Farage from UKIP into the Brexit Party.

He had told the BBC he had responsibility for The Brexit Party's group of MEPs as its "head of delegation".

Honestly, can't see any difference from the Tories here, buying your way out of harsh rules. It's certainly not what I voted for.
Shabana Mahmood's Indefinite Leave To Remain Culture War

3 years - if you're earning £125k+

15 years - if you're e.g. a nurse, or a teacher

Labour's two tier system which rewards high earners and insults those who work just as hard but don't earn as much - really sad to see Labour fall

Not only Johnson. I argued with a Tory MP on the bird site and swathes of the MSM were dripping in condescension and exceptionalism.
When Italy was being decimated by COVID, instead of taking that as a valuable early warning, Johnson just appeared on TV gloating about British exceptionalism. Criminal negligence.

Living in Italy I posted what the UK should do on the bird site in the weeks before lockdown. I said what was coming. A British Tory MP argued against me, making disparaging comments about Italy. It was so obvious. So many lives that could have been saved...
The Covid Inquiry finds that if Boris Johnson had called the first lockdown even one week earlier then it could have saved at least 20,000 lives.

Here's a quick reminder of what Johnson was actually doing during those weeks

I must confess that I didn't follow British politics when Burnham was in WM, so don't know what he was like then, but he's a smart communicator now, who comes across extremely well.
'Maybe that's part of our problem with the political culture of this country is we are always speculating, we're not actually focussing on solutions'

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said he 'wouldn't rule out what might or might not happen in the future'
