Stephen froze like a deer in the headlights and pretended to have connection issues because he unintentionally gave away the game plan.

“Plenary authority is complete, absolute power over a specific area or issue, with no significant limitations."

Show people this clip. This is an insane slip up.

Watching with envy from D1. Can @alexis4seattle.bsky.social save Curby, too?

Besides my personal feelings on this partnership, I'm concerned SPF is funneling donations to an "organization" that isn't even doing anything these days. WS Skylink hasn't interacted on any social media in well over a year, and hasn't posted to their own website blog in 3.5 years.

Who at TAS is the documented responsible/lead contact to be held accountable?

How do TAS's actions comport with SPF's prioritization of public spaces, especially when nearly all their efforts are focused on private land use?

FWIW, here's what I asked about TAS:

How much funding has SPF provided TAS in recent years (ideally broken down by fiscal year)?

What was the direction provided for use of funds provided to TAS by SPF?

What accountability measures are in place to ensure funds are used as directed?

I initially dug in on SPF's site because I've been trying to understand Tree Action Seattle's structure, strategy, and funding. They're not technically an organization, but they are sponsored by SPF. I also reached out to SPF about TAS, but found the Skylink stuff in the course of my research

Seattle Parks Foundation appears to be funding Skylink (gondola) "research." Why are they funding the people trying to stop light rail? I've reached out to SPF for more info on the nature of this partnership and how much $ has gone to these hucksters

Pedantic! Also, pedant is me.

Ah, preservationism is clearly the way.

Change is bad.

Guess I'm happy the only positive mainstream press coverage this fabricated issue has garnered is this. Especially knowing how the Seattle Times editorial board often falls all over themselves to publish actual editorials by tree NIMBYs.

"Not counting the urbanist builder stuff" lol... Is that a touch of shade being thrown at @theurbanist.org ? Shade from old heritage trees, not gross apartment buildings.

Jennifer Godfrey, who attempted to sue the Seattle because upzoning could kill orcas (dismissed, now appealing) posting about her first "real" press coverage--which is actually just a Seattle Times letter to the editor. She does acknowledge she's been covered elsewhere... Just not the way she wants
Screenshot of Facebook post by Jennifer Godfrey reading "Huge thanks to @judy.aka and @seattletimes for our very first real coverage! (Sorry, we're not counting the urbanist builder stuff.) Thank you so much for helping get the word out that the people of Seattle could be losing their right to stand up for the environment. The unjust dismissal from the hearing examiner office threatens that right.

We filed an appeal earlier this year after the city of Seattle excluded the only endangered species of Orca in the world from their largest environmental impact statement that will determine how Seattle's environment is treated for the next 20 years.

OrcaAppeal.org for a customizable email and other ways to help 🌎"

Accompanied by images of a letter to the editor written by Judy Akalaitis, known "tree NIMBY," claiming the city's comp plan will ultimately harm orcas.

A few years ago I started noticing that the majority of drivers I see driving dangerously on residential streets are actually boomers. They love to complain about young people being reckless while bombing around neighborhood streets at 35 mph+, often in large SUVs. It's great.

An acquaintance was making the argument that we shouldn't use this as a "purity test" because some people have kids who "need" Disney+. I can agree it shouldn't be a purity test (I'm not going to screen people I meet based on it), but saying any streaming service is a "need" is so damn out-of-touch.

Cancelled Wednesday night, around 7 Pacific! Had to have the "talk" with the kid to make sure he understood why. And it does suck, as a family that likes to watch Abbott Elementary, The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, King of the Hill... But the point is so much bigger than any laugh those shows give us.

Kids aren't often part of the conversation when infrastructure decisions like these are debated. Plenty of people will still argue kids shouldn't be out without supervision. But if we want our kids to be physically active, make safe decisions, and be part of communities... This freedom is needed.

My middle-schooler tween and his two neighbor friends rode from Fauntleroy to Alki a couple weeks ago via the sidewalk on the west side of Fauntleroy, Lincoln Park Way, and Beach Drive. Independence is important, but I also need to know there are safe passageways, and this stretch is one!
sarahchadd.bsky.social
Yeah... Would have been nice...

Didn't Vanishing Seattle's Cynthia Brothers move here from the Bay Area? Or maybe I got that backward and she doesn't even live here anymore.

But yes.

Is... Is this why the more diverse schools already have split back to two lunches? For example, here in WS, CSIHS has two lunches while WSHS has one... Sealth's population isn't larger than WS'S.
