This article is really good. Both on how the planning system is near impossible for communities to navigate and regulation lacking – and on the strength of communities coming together to fight oil & gas projects.

Good luck to the Foxholes locals. We also have an Egdon application in Dorset.

Press release from @wealdactiongroup.bsky.social on our response to the Rosebank consultation. ⬇️

I feel moderately optimistic that the gov't won't be able to approve this climate-wrecking project a second time. There are many flaws in Equinor's statement on downstream scope 3 emissions.
We sent a damning response to the consultation on the Rosebank oil field.

Rosebank's oil could generate 254 million tonnes of CO₂e equivalent over its lifetime. Equinor's claim this would "not cause significant harm" is dishonest.

I hope you all know that the government is shortly to decide whether to scrap or greenlight Rosebank - the UK's biggest undeveloped oil field.

But we still have to try! If the UK govt said no to Rosebank and left our fossil fuels in the ground, this would set a new norm inspiring other countries to follow.

Consultation on Rosebank open now.

I hope you've had your say @profbillmcguire.bsky.social ?

And another one!

These common sense decisions are making me hopeful the UK government will say NO to Rosebank... the decision is back in their hands at the end of this week.

There's still time to have your say - but be quick, the consultation closes on Thursday actionnetwork.org/forms/the-go...
💥GOOD NEWS from Denmark💥

Oil and gas permit REVOKED.

The Danish Energy Board ruled that consent for new fossil fuel production at Hejre field was unlawful, upholding a complaint by Greenpeace Nordic.

30 years ago this week, Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight fellow Ogoni activists were executed by the Nigerian government, allegedly for a crime they didn’t commit but actually because of their campaigning against Shell’s oil pollution.

I'm sad to learn that Exeter has the highest death rate among homeless people of any English city.

It's a lovely place to live but it seems we can't look after our vulnerable neighbours.

Thank you @exeterobserver.org for reporting on this.

I'm proud that I played a small role editing this report.

The new undersea cable linking Tunisia and Italy is presented as a win-win project. But as the report shows, it is just the latest version of colonialism: Europe meeting its decarbonisation goals at the expense of Tunisia's sovereignty.
Tunisia’s public utility, STEG, risks being sidelined. Domestic renewable energy production stalls, public ownership weakens, and the country becomes dependent on imports. This is not energy sovereignty, it’s dependency dressed as progress. New TNI report: www.tni.org/en/publicati...

Equinox and Shell joining forces in an attempt to avoid paying their fair share into the UK economy.

These two massively wealthy corporations have already made fortunes by driving climate change.

Major reform to the tax system is needed.
BREAKING 🚨: Rosebank's owner Equinor is joining forces with Shell on a new North Sea venture ‘Adura’ that could see Shell dodge £1.3 billion in UK tax.

While families struggle to heat their homes, polluters keep cashing in.
