Defend slowness when it serves a purpose, silence when it speaks and difference when evocative. Beauty is not just a means of escape; it is above all an invocation. When cinema is authentic, it does not merely console, but challenges. It articulates the questions that dwell within us, and sometimes, even provokes tears that we did not know we needed to express.

Springsteen's Nebraska is the reissue that didn't need to happen. There are a few curiosities but it mostly made me want to put on the OG record again. It makes the project less interesting: Part of the allure is the stripped-down tape recording. Adding the alt versions erases the mystique.

In memory of Janet Lee North.

I don't know who Janet Lee North was. I stumbled upon this beautiful cross with her name under a railroad bridge. An internet search yields a few brief paragraphs about her death in 2023. No obituary. I'm sure she was a lot more.
