Nah, I think we’re anarchists because of a combo of not wanting to follow any rules that don’t make sense to us, and a heightened sense of fairness/unfairness (I’ve seen this referred to as “high justice sensitivity”), both of which discourage buying into a highly centralized, unaccountable state.

This *has* to be a clickbait/ragebait article. I refuse to believe this was written in earnest, unless the writer has a track record of being very, very out of touch and very, very dumb.

I remember you (and Luana too?) mentioning Banshee ages ago when I didn't have HBO, or any streaming platforms, really. Pandemic happens, I now have just about *every* streaming platform, but I'd forgotten about Banshee because it had been so long ago. This reminded me, and I'm now on season 2.

"Ziam" is a movie that asks the tough questions, like: how effective is Muay Thai against zombies?

Based on that description alone you already know if you want to watch this or not.

Posting for the other movie people out there, just because this cinematographer's choice of three directors to work with is the most, um, eclectic, choice imaginable:
Biography: Toyomichi Kurita (born 1950 in Mito, Ibaraki, Japan) is a Japanese cinematographer who has worked in both Japan and the USA. He has frequently worked with American directors, Alan Rudolph and Tyler Perry, after graduating from the AFI Conservancy in 1981. In Japan, he has frequently collaborated with Takashi Miike.

Greta Thunberg, deported to Greece, says the targeting of the Sumud Flotilla is "not the story" @teenvogue.com — instead, she says:

"Israel once again violated international humanitarian law by preventing aid from getting into Gaza while people are being starved.”

Okay, a tiny bit of good news.

Terrified Curtis Yarvin—the “philosopher behind JD Vance”—plans to flee the USA.

The Dork Enlightenment guru says the Trump administration is failing to go full authoritarian.

“I feel that I personally have to start thinking realistically about how to flee the country.”
From Yarvin's Substack: The second Trump revolution, like the first, is failing. It is failing because it deserves to fail. It is failing because it spends all its time patting itself on the back. It is failing because its true mission, which neither it nor (still less) its supporters understand, is still as far beyond its reach as algebra is beyond a cat. Because the vengeance meted out after its failure will dwarf the vengeance after 2020—because the successes of the second revolution are so much greater than the first—I feel that I personally have to start thinking realistically about how to flee the country. Everyone else in a similar position should have a 2029 plan as well. And it is not even clear that it will wait until 2029: losing the Congress will instantly put the administration on the defensive.

I can’t say any of these are *good* movies (they’re all creature feature cheese), but Prophecy (1979), Grizzly (1976), and The White Buffalo (1977) all kinda fall into the wheelhouse of what you’re looking for. Prophecy & The White Buffalo have explicit Native American themes & characters, too.
