Sunday Bonhoeffer:
"In normal life one is often not at all aware that we always receive infinitely more than we give, and that gratitude is what enriches life."

Letter from Bonhoeffer to his parent when he was incarcerated in Tegel prison 13 Sept 1943
A black and white photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, while he was incarcerated in Tegel prison circa 1943. He is middle-aged with a balding head of hair with a little bit of blond strands sill on the sides. He is wearing a grey suit coat, knitted vest, white collared shirt, and black tie. He is standing with other prisoners in front of a brick wall and appears to be about to say something to someone nearby.

For my friends around the world who wonder, "What's Thanksgiving?" and "Why does Canada celebrate it before the US?"
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadian bluesky peeps and to anyone else who wants to join us in giving thanks this weekend!

Did you know the first thanksgiving celebrated by Europeans in North America happened in Canada?
Or that the Indigenous celebrated autumn harvests long before Europeans arrived?
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving a month earlier than the United States?
This is the story.

A festive Thanksgiving dinner table featuring a roasted turkey as the centerpiece, surrounded by an array of dishes including green beans, stuffing, sliced ham, and a pumpkin pie. The table is decorated with pumpkins, sunflowers, candles, and autumnal flowers, with wine glasses and plates set for a meal.

Do learn!! I started to play guitar when I was 14 years old. It's something I can always pick up. Being abe to play guitar helped me to learn the violin and now piano. Find songs you want to play and jump in! Music is wonderful for your soul! (If you need help finding music, DM me or Peyton!)

And before you ask.. yes, there's a lot of David Gray in my repertoire, but I think 'Pink Pony Club' is my party piece.

(At my age, I learning a ton of classical pieces is way beyond me.. but give it a bit and you never know.)

A friend (who is more like family) and his sisters gave us their parent's piano last month. The last few weeks have been stressful, but learning how to play a new instrument has been wonderful. Music, for me, is certainly a refuge during these dark days.
A dark wood upright piano sits in front of a light gray wall, with three nature paintings hanging over it. It is adorned atop with a cornucopia with orange and yellow flowers spilling out to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend in Canada. There is sheet music on the ledge of the piano. The music is lit by the standing Tiffany lamp with its multi-coloured glass shade.

On Oct. 11, 1979, the first episode of the revival of The Littlest Hobo debuted on CTV. Based off a 1958 movie and 1960s TV show, it aired for six seasons and 114 episodes.
With its famous theme song, it is beloved by generations of Canadians.
This is the story.

A collage featuring the title "The Littlest Hobo" in bold yellow letters, with four images of a German Shepherd dog: one sitting at a desk with papers, one standing near trees, one near a brick wall, and one in a natural outdoor setting with greenery, all set against a black background.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay! This year's theme is Access to Services: Catastrophes and Emergencies! I think access to services for all is such an important issue! Access in crisis situations is paramount so support reaches vulnerable people in times of overwhelming distress! 💜🌻

Sunday Bonhoeffer:
"Possesions are not God's blessings and goodness, but the opportunities of service which he entrusts to us."

From the collection "No Rusty Swords: Letters, Lectures and Notes 1928-1936." (1965)
A black and white photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's desk in his attic room at his parent's house in Berlin. It is a simple wooden table with a lamp and book open on it. It is sitting by a radiator and under a window. There is also an armed wooden chair sitting in front of the desk.

A great Sunday morning read!
(The thread breaks off at times, so poke around the All The Right Movies feed to read the entire post! Again, well worth it!)

DR. NO was released 63 years ago today. The first Hollywood entry in the iconic James Bond series, and still among the most popular 007 films, the story of how it was made will leave you shaken and stirred….

Premieres tonight in 1959: “The Twilight Zone”

“It’s not a monster rally or a spook show,” Rod Serling said at the time. “The Twilight Zone is what it implies: that shadowy area of the ‘almost-but-not-quite’ — the unbelievable, told in terms that can be believed.”

“Where is Everybody?” (S1:E1) 🙏🏼

Oh, man. After reading the article, what it actually says is that an historian did a lot of archival work and spatial research to determine the site of a killing and then the family of the likely perpetrator stepped forward with photographs to confirm identity.

Sunday Bonhoeffer:
"It's been a year since I heard a chorale sung. But it's strange how music, when one listens with the inner ear alone and gives oneself up to it utterly, can be almost more beautiful than when heard physically."
