Was fehlt: Die Einordnung. Laut WDR werden etwa 500 Fälle geschätzt. 500! nicht 500.000, 500!

I'm reading Sarah Wynn-Williams' Careless People right now and I find it fascinating! But on top of the intended message, about the horrible people at the helm of Facebook, there is another story in this book.

Men do not have solidarity and have trouble with the concept of love and closeness, men don't cry in front of each other or say they love each other, it sucks!
here's the more targeted data on gender
men's social circles have shrunk more than women's, and fewer men report having friends they lean on for emotional support
but this is clearly a whole of society problem, with secondary gendered effects www.americansurveycenter.org/why-mens-soc...

I'm seeing a lot of opinions and comments on studies that show how genAI is not delivering the expected productivity boosts. They all have in common that they assume it is the users' fault for not using genAI correctly.

There's a couple of #VideoGames that I would like to like, but I just don't... 😅
Like #FasterThanLight or #Halcyon6. I like the style I like the idea, but somehow near the endgame the pressure just rises above a certain level and I just can't keep up. :(

For a long time, I was thinking about getting a #SplitKeyboard, but today I realized that I have two versions of the same one. So I just set them both up and I'm typing this with them. It feels weird, but works better than I thought :D

Hot (?) take: There have been exactly two improvements in UX of #OperatingSystems since #Windows95.
#USB peripherals work without installing dedicated drivers from a CD or wherever and you can connect to a #network without a weekend course in network technology.

Certainly not Electron Apps... :D

Argh... The #hotkey to get into the address bar of typical #browsers is Crtl + L. Wanna guess what that does in a #PasswordManager like #KeePassXC?
A hint: It starts with "L"

How surprising, in a world where every new technology feels like a threat, and 50% of teenagers say, they wish the internet didn't exist, people protect their children by avoiding new technology.
Sounds like a wise decision. :)

Nostalgic millennial parents are increasingly keen to replicate their own childhoods. But were the 90s as blissful as we remember?

Can we bring back #ScrollBars in #browsers? At least on #desktops? Sure, space is limited on a phone, but we shouldn't act as if there were no more screens larger than 10 inches.
A scroll bar that I can actually see, without focusing on the edge of my screen for several seconds.
