If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

We have reached the first climate tipping point🚨
To prevent further tipping points we must do everything we can to rapidly reduce heating and “𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁”.

Those were the words of Lena Höglund Isaksson @iiasa.ac.at, keynote speaker at a #MethaneMatters coalition conference held today.
NC grassroots groups are laying the groundwork for reclaiming the state from the GOP political takeover of the 2010s.
Chris Murphy will open the event, making the case for supporting the coalition that's doing the hard work of organizing. Then we hear from one of those groups - Down Home NC.

Congratulations! Crucial topic— and IIASA is the right place to define the issues and explore solutions.
🎬 And that’s a wrap on the #OvershootConference!

A huge thank you to our Scientific Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, and every single speaker and participant whose insights, questions, and collaboration made this event such a success.

Sometimes it's weird to live in a country where the govt can just ... do good things.
The Irish government has released a report on the benefits of the pilot for a Basic Income for the Arts, and in a total shocker, it seems like it was good for the country as well as the artists.

Nobody could have seen this coming.

What America is going through is not unusual in historical terms. Plenty of examples like it today elsewhere in the world.
What makes it unusual is the rapid collapse from a set of widely espoused norms and values that centered on liberty. It is the sacking of the shining city on hill that shocks.

I just saw that today's date (9/16/25 in America, 16.9.25 in the civilized world) is a series of squares: 3x3/4x4/5x5

Everything is terrible, but that's something cool about today that we can all enjoy for a moment. Math is a language of the Universe. I love when I hear it like this.

You need to know what might be coming.

Trump could have brought the nation together to confront political violence after the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Instead he appears to be preparing to use the shooting as a pretext to destroy his political opposition and consolidate power.
Glad to learn I'm not alone in having Smothers Brothers songs on immediate recall.

Despite the centrality of equity in the Paris Agreement, no framework exists to allocate responsibilities for carbon dioxide removals among countries.

A new paper, co-authored by Imperial's Professor @joerirogelj.bsky.social, presents a framework for allocating CDR globally 🧵
