I've been working on a free, open source (FOSS) virtual tabletop program aimed at designers (using Godot). Over the last few months I've been focusing on component creation.

I'm looking for feedback and collaborators - please consider joining the team!

“what are you willing to do to win?” typically makes people think of combative elements, but way more of the time this is what you’re gonna be called to do.
Inside: OH MY GOD HOW DID YOU NOT SEE THIS EARLIER YOU FUCKING MORON

Outside: *clap them on the back* Hell yeah brother here’s a sign glad to have you on board

Legendary founder of NPR programming Bill Siemering is enjoying Zoom visiting with students so much that he's asked me to put a second call out. No honorarium necessary. Any takers?
Bill Siemering, founding program director of NPR, author of its mission statement, has asked me to inquire if any profs might be interested in a Zoom class visit? No honorarium necessary. Bill founded All Things Considered, Fresh Air, won a MacArthur, etc.

This Times op-ed by @galvinalmanza.bsky.social really misses the point.

Free buses work in small systems because ridership is low, and the cost of collecting fares exceeds the cost of recovery. Not the MTA. They really do need that money.

Holy crap am I glad I didn't try to stick around for sparring class, because after the normal karate class my body decided it is DONE. And freezing. The walk home from the bus stop was brutal and I am now wrapped in blankets and a heating pad.

Me: "Shihan, is there a kiai (shout) on that nineteenth move?"
Shihan (instructor): "Not officially but we put it in."
Other Student: "It's in the video."
Shihan: "Don't trust the video. We just did that for COVID."
Student: "It's in the video, it's canon."

Zuck taking advantage of every opportunity, I guess. "World's going to shit? Well, I guess EFF will be too busy opposing fascism to notice that we launched surveillance glasses!"

Cool, cool.
Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Since Reagan, the rallying cry of Republicans has been "think of the children!" Every excessive act, every oppressive law was justified if it protected the children.

Unspoken in that, but known to most, was it only applied to white, wealthy, Christian children

They want the rest to die quickly.
Guillotines are the moderate solution
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

It’s unreasonably important to me that people know JewBelong isn’t some big org, it’s just Archie Gottesman, a hugely shitty racist rich white woman who used to make billboards for her daddy’s company and pivoted to vomiting her bullshit racist crybullying onto them in the name of “antisemitism”
This is the pet project of one rich AF Jewish nepo baby white lady who lives on the upper east side and claims to speak for all Jews and throws her money around to control the messaging and it is a fucking nightmare

Revelations about the Clooney Ocean's Eleven it had never occurred to me to ask about but that make perfect sense.
The EMP was a replacement for what was originally a hotel detonation, struck after 9/11. So it was, indeed, out of place.

I'll get the first, Doylist reason out of the way quick - because star trek is a way to talk about our society and its future, and medicine is only as good as the plot says it is.

Geordi had a visor for the same reason. Picard, an artificial heart.
