Hey new people. I’m Steph. I’ve been a game dev for 30 years. I sold my first short story when I was 13. You probably haven’t heard of me.

I sometimes post photos of cats and food and kids. I also love weird disasters and…MURDER.
Sat on my couch and read this and cried a lot.

DEATH BY LIGHTNING is really damn good, in spite of being riddled with inaccuracies and anachronisms, and a strangely prophetic First Lady.

But the cowards made NO MENTION OF THE PRESIDENTIAL BOOFING which is probably fine for most of you.

I put on MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON to a dubious household and within 2 minutes everyone was charmed and in love.

I also may have cried a little toward the end.

Was informed by youngest that the scarf I was knitting for him was “not rainbow enough” so I am taking pains to fix that.

The one or two nights of the year I bother with this crap on my face.

Tonight we do our family big fancy dinner out at a nice restaurant, wearing nice clothes.

I did not mean to schedule it for the Solstice/Longest Night, but from now on I think I might!

Where’s my glass of joie, @jacquelinecarey.bsky.social?

I love art.
Today I made a candy glass sugar cookie based on Ellsworth Kelly's 'Austin' chapel (2018) on the Blanton Museum grounds.

If I could time-travel I would not go back in time to see dinosaurs or kill Hitler, I would go back in time to watch Heated Rivalry episode 5 at this bar

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

This could have some…consequences. Whole lot of systems that depend on this data.

Routers, for instance.
The atomic ensemble time scale at the NIST Boulder campus has failed.

There’s a saying, “No ethical consumption under capitalism.” And yeah, I get it. I do my best to do least harm possible.

Then there’s this.

If you’re watching Vince Gilligan shows expecting comfortable resolutions and quick edits, you’re going to be disappointed.

If you watch to see highly intelligent but deeply flawed people struggling in a world they feel has failed them, you’ll have more fun.

Reflecting on the last Memory Palace episode of the year about Grandma Gatewood, and how her husband beat her in front of her 11 children for 30 years.

It was only after he’d nearly killed her that she could finally get a divorce.

We love our fresh tree, but the thing that makes it safe is the gravity feeder I bought years ago to keep it from turning into a giant vertical pile of kindling in our living room.
You might be thinking, "CPSC, does a dry Christmas tree really burn that much faster than a well-watered tree?"

Friend, let's find out together by watching this PSA.

Just had our semi annual IEP meeting this morning with youngest’s teachers.

If you are in the thick of this process and struggling and wondering if there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, I ofc can’t guarantee you anything, I can just tell you that — in this case — things got better.

Also thinking about The Leftovers, a show that (spoilers for an 11 year old HBO drama) didn’t bother explaining its central mystery in the end, or even giving things too tidy of an ending, and I wonder if that’s a lesson Lindelof learned from writing LOST.
