Genuinely can't stop laughing at this Colin Farrell story

Farrell had requested not to work on his birthday, 31 May, but instead had been issued with a 6am pickup time. “I got up to all sorts of nonsense the night before,” Farrell told Colbert. “I remember getting into bed, and as soon as I turned off the light, the phone rang and it was the driver outside saying, ‘It’s 10 past six,’ and I went, ‘Oh shit.’”

Even after an assistant director told Farrell that he couldn’t work in his condition, the actor remained optimistic, saying: “Just get me six Pacifico Cervezas and a pack of 20 Marlboro Reds.”

Fortified by more beer, Farrell went on set. “But it was terrible. I will never forget the line that I had, but I couldn’t get it out. It was: ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of precrime methodology.’ That was the line that started the scene.

Sign the petition in the thread. NIMBY groups are gathering again to defeat retail in neighbourhoods. Just saw a letter from “no more noise” objecting. It’s a city. Stop sterilizing it. Biz/cafes/even bars in neighbourhoods work in humane cities around the world.

Street parking on major arteries is the most insane thing about Toronto traffic.

Imagine how much better it would be for all road users if we abandoned the insistence that our arterial roads also be (weirdly cheap!) parking lots

The main traffic problem in Toronto is that private, mostly empty cars are prioritized on nearly EVERY street in Toronto, and every other mode of transportation — every one of which fits more people in the same amount of space — is a second-hand thought.

Metrolinx (on the City of Toronto's behalf) will start constructing the West Toronto Railpath Extension in 2026:
* 10 years after EA completion
* 6 years after finishing design work
* 4 years after buying property

It's a complex corridor, but building a bike/ped trail shouldn't take that long.

Map of the West Toronto Railpath (existing, north of Dundas Street West to the West Toronto [former] Diamond) and southerly extension to Sudbury and Abell Streets. A gap will remain between its terminus, the King-Liberty Bridge and Garrison Crossing.
