My first-ever personal essay, about rebuilding my life after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 39. It feels deeply vulnerable to put this out in the world, but it also means a lot to have the chance to tell this story. Here’s to many years of hiking to come. #t1d
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 2 years ago. It's completely changed the way I travel, but I haven't let it stop me.

When I was 28, I almost died. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

My first insulin prescription cost me $684.

Most Texans can't afford that. So when I got elected, I capped insulin at $25/month.

I know what it means to fight for my life. In the Senate, I’ll fight for yours.

There’s a man on the F train with a tiny rubber duckie glued to the top of his watch cap, which brought me a wee yellow glint of joy on this cloudy morning

That’s all.

My review of "Riot Women," Sally Wainwright's ferocious new series about a group of middle-aged women who channel their unexpressed rage and frustration through punk rock. Come for Rosalie Craig belting Hole, stay for the love and catharsis.

Starting tomorrow, the Trump administration is set to send notices to 1,000 student loan borrowers (first round) noticing them of an intent to garnish their wages for student loan debt.

This is cruel and unnecessary.

If you receive a notice, send it to us and we'll try to help.

In a nation ruled by supremacy and all its many sabotages of the public good, every act of repair is a defiant act.

*Every* act of repair is a defiant act.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

People ask me why I still buy DVDs and Blu-rays. This is why. But most streaming series don’t get physical releases, which means a show as beloved and groundbreaking as “She-Ra” could easily be disappeared. Especially in this age of censorship, we need a reliable way to preserve the archive.
‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’ is scheduled to leave Netflix on February 21, 2026.

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

I’ve been putting off watching “One Battle After Another” because I was worried I wouldn’t like it, and I then would have to explain to the vast majority of people who think it’s a masterpiece why I didn’t like it. Unfortunately, this has turned out to be true.

My review of Netflix’s historical miniseries “Death by Lightning,” which, as an “Assassins” girlie, I really, really wanted to be better than it is. Worth it for Betty Gilpin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nick Offerman’s performances, though
