I urge @governor.ca.gov @gavinnewsom.bsky.social to sign SB79 & allow more housing at transit hubs - and stem the population loss that's going to lose CA 4 electoral votes in 2030 as TX and FL gain 4 EACH. Help people stay in CA and move to CA - and retain our political power! @cayimby.bsky.social

The Sunset pushed all new/multifamily housing to other parts of San Francisco (mostly the east side) for decades. I find this belief that it should be able to operate in isolation silly. We live in a city, people! Local control is one of those things that sounds good but has disastrous outcomes.

Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

Those interested in the experience can attend the one about the Family Zoning Plan tomorrow at 12:30pm in room 400 at City Hall - guessing it’ll be one for the ages

I fly SFO-IAH & back regularly. There are times regular precheck only is faster, occasionally a LOT faster, but I think it’s 1/3 of the time based on my experience.

Cannot be emphasized enough that anti-housing NIMBYs in places like California and New York are objectively working to support a durable MAGA hold on Congress and the presidency.

It’s much harder to build housing in Blue states than it is in Red states.

So yes people are moving away from Blue states.

One more reason that addressing the housing shortage in NY and elsewhere must be an urgent priority.

BIG news: The California Democratic Party just endorsed @scottwiener.bsky.social’s landmark housing bill #SB79, which legalizes multifamily homes near major public transit statewide!

This marks a major shift in state politics: California Dems are *finally* embracing a party that builds!

“Los Angeles leaders are once again demonstrating their cowardice and failing their own constituents who desperately need more housing—and they’re doing it at the behest of LA’s wealthiest, most entitled voters, who have consistently blocked progress on housing affordability.” - @hanlon.bsky.social

Los Angeles, CA — Today the Los Angeles City Council voted to oppose SB 79, a state bill designed to expand affordable housing near major transit stops. In doing so, councilmembers repeated discredite...

Another example that drives me nuts is when people propose thing like building "teacher housing" in cities that struggle to hire teachers. Just build more housing in general! I promise it's better than assigning particular blocks to certain professional castes!

really feels like housing affordability is one of the most important political issues of our time, affecting nearly every aspect of our lives, and everyday our mainstream political discourse is about whether sour cream is woke or not

i think it is hard for some people to really their heads around the reality that kennedy is staunchly anti-vaccine and thinks that people should suffer through disease and that those who die deserved it and that those who survive are a better order of human being

The overwhelming majority of San Francisco’s Victorian homes were built with facade elements that were mass produced in off-site factories and ordered from catalogs. Basically none of them were “hand carved.”
For some lovers of The City’s Victorian-era buildings — constructed in oblong shapes, defined by jutting turrets and bay windows, and adorned with hand-carved ornamentation — these new arrivals strike a jarring and at times unappealing contrast.

Now, as San Francisco considers a proposal backed by Mayor Daniel Lurie to rezone The City’s northern and western neighborhoods, some are asking whether the loosened zoning rules will open the floodgates to a glut of modern developments that will supplant the historic charm of The City’s older buildings. The impossible has become possible: we've passed a clean CEQA infill exemption. This is probably the most important thing California has done on housing in the present YIMBY moment.

We're so close to fixing key drivers of California's housing crisis:
✅️ SB 79 would legalize apartments near transit.
✅️ AB 130 would end frivolous litigation against infill.
✅️ AB 253 + AB 1308 would prevent permitting/inspection delays.
➡️ Here's how you can help.
