A book cover for Getting Ready to serve a demigod: a size difference terato fiction by salazar zed. The cover sports a woman in a kimono-like robe staring up with her legs nervously partially crossed as a bird-like hand lifts her chin. The hand is the size of her toso.

It's a long, kinda precarious driveway, so sometimes other delievery people would just leave it by the mailbox and I'd go grab it for her, but THROW IT?INTO THE CREEK?
shadyscientician.bsky.social
This screenshot is so funny to me because my grandma's house has a creek running through the front, and there was one USPS delivery guy who would THROW THE PACKAGE from wherever he was standing directly into the creek. The post office straight didn't believe us until we filmed it.

No vagina. You put your dick in that gearbox like a man.

Me, watching robot porn made by normal people and not crazy perverts, sobbing: Where's the tubes? Where's the corrosive hydrolic fluid? Where's the cable management?

I know some folk that can write, edit, and put out 2-4 shorts a week. They're to be feared. Not AI, just do it full time and have it down to a science.

Similarly, there are people who can put out a 60k novel in a month or two. Normally, you only see this in pulp romance and in webserials.

actually it's still hispanic heritage month i'll say this shit:

there's no shame in being a "no sabo kid", I'm literally fluent in Spanish and can read, but not write well, in it. iI still get called a "no sabo kid." It is not your fault for not being able to speak a language you were never taught.

(To be clear, I'm fast because I'm a pulp author, but I'm slow for a pulp author.)
shadyscientician.bsky.social
I'm a pulp author, so I'm unusually fast. There are pulp authors faster than me.

I can write and edit 4-5 10k word shorts a month, and I can write one 60k word novel in about 3 months.

Also, take off the makeup when you're done with it. Waiting until bed is a good way to forget to take it off, and even resilient skin will be irritated by keeping it on overnight.

If you color match to your chest instead of your face, then you can use the same color foundation for the entire face and neck for a more consistent result. Discoloration may require colored foundation underneath to disrupt the undertone (a red rash might need some blue/green until it's neutralized)

I think I’ve said this before but some people are putting way too much effort into their fully-rendered realistically-lit illustrative graphic novel. We’re probably gonna like it just as much if you did like half the work, and you’ll save your bandwidth for faster pages or other stuff in your life

Also, I've learned a new trick: wearing heels everywhere and also shaving an inch off my height when it's brought up.

Nothing makes a 5'10" guy visibly reevaluate his life more than seeing what's clearly a 5'6" say he's 5'2".

I bring a "I'm barely over five foot, have no jawline, no muscles, no hair and no dick, but I still get tail because I actually talk to women" energy that "No woman will ever fuck me because I'm only five eight" dudes don't really like

Meta is constructing its largest data center yet: a $10 billion facility in Louisiana, as big as 70 football fields, requiring more than twice as much electricity as the City of New Orleans.

Louisiana has had to greenlight $3 billion in new energy infrastructure to service Meta's facility.

My ex wife lives is a very famous filming location in a rural town that already sees seasonal tourism, but the way the neighborhood combatted annoying ass tourists taking pictures of their houses was literally just to change the exterior look

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

Unfortunately, a lot of people's understanding money starts and stops at "money goes in, money should come out." Not everything looks good on a spreadsheet. When we pave a road, that's outgoing money, but no incoming money. But holy SHIT does every car driving on it produce value.

The post office is an essential service! The US pushed for home delivery long before we even pushed for clean water in rural communities.

I keep trying to explain to people that The US Post Office and Canada Post are immeasurably valuable to the economics of rural communities.
