It’s getting real for Home Depot. The flash mob is only the warm up, the nationwide boycott hits on November 27th.

Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

I am a little tired of being yelled at for this but apparently not tired about: heroin addiction is not RFK’s problem. He’s a sociopath. Most addicts aren’t. Honestly, walk into an NA meeting, grab the first person with a few years to be head of HHS and they’d probably do a better job than Bobby.
This is what happens when you put a privileged, 14 year heroin addict in charge of health. Duh

I announced that I started a small business/social enterprise supporting the Filipino American community in Anchorage.

I didn’t plan for the launch to fall on the same week as Black Friday/Small Business Saturday (I was going to do this next year).

But here we are and I’m excited!

Bike Anchorage’s response to Sunday’s ADN’s editorial about the increase of pedestrian deaths in Anchorage. The ADN editorial did quite a bit of victim blaming and offered fixes that made it more difficult to be a walker or a cyclist here.

Opinion: Stop blaming pedestrians and start fixing streets
Anchorage’s pedestrian death toll isn’t about reflective vests or fences — it’s about dangerous driving, weak enforcement and leaders who prioritize convenience over human life.

Interesting:
That new towering plume over Mat-Su’s landfill? It’s filtered water from decomposing trash

Soupy black trash water, once trucked south and dumped into Cook Inlet, is now treated and vaporized above the landfill.

This was the thing we did best at OG Alaska Dispatch: Around the conference table, pitching stories, brainstorming angles, sharing leads and sources, separating the wheat from the chaff, cheering each other on when appropriate and reining each other in when needed. Good journalism is a team sport.
Seriously everything, EVERYTHING about the RFK/Nuzzi/LIzza moment is an argument for a newsroom where you pitch stories in front of each other and editors who shield you from your own worst impulses.

Pediatricians say vaccines do not cause autism. A bear-eating heroin addict who fantasizes about sucking his own semen out of his lovers' orifices says they do. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

I hope folks realize that between Trump, Kushner, Hegseth, Witkoff, Noem, RFK, Jr., Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard, this country is almost entirely undefended.
Q: Have you heard this audio that Bloomberg has of Witkoff coaching the Russians on how to appeal to you?

TRUMP: That's a standard thing. He's gotta sell this to Ukraine, he's gonna sell Ukraine to Russia. That's what a dealmaker does. I haven't heard it but I heard it was standard negotiation.

One of the realities of climate change in the Yukon is that the clear skies and deep cold of 30 years ago are gone - winters are much warmer and the skies are often cloudy. That makes a full-spectrum SAD light an important self-care tool for some of us to deal with the darkness.

Given the closure of the Carrs in Anchorage, seems like something that city should be considering. After all, the city went so far as to fund buses to other supermarkets for local residents. #Alaska
Turns out Mamdani's controversial proposal for government-run supermarkets isn't so novel. Other cities also are toying with the idea to bring fresh, affordable food to communities that do not have easy access to it. Good WSJ read (gift link)
