Dice the potato (1/2 inch). Add to a pot with French onion soup. When potato is soft, add baby spinach. Garnish with cheese.

Every ocean disaster story is either "they did everything right and planned perfectly then 1800 one in a million things lined up in a row to kill them" or "they rowed out 4 miles into a category 2 hurricane in a rubber dinghy with no life vests while drinking brandy from the bottle and drowned"

Here's a fun experiment, start looking at old obituaries and count the frequency with which "blood poisoning" appears as a cause of death and then check to see the date when Alexander Fleming was dicking around with that petri dish

Vague idea for a TTRPG campaign: All Regulations Are Written in Blood

PCs are field agents in charge of finding and dealing with arcane occupational safety violations. That six-sided summoning pentagram? Flagged. That storeroom where the universal solvent is next to the lemonade? Flagged.

I can’t believe you lefty Luddites hate tech so much that you embrace mRNA vaccines, heat pumps, electric bikes, hybrid work, renewable power (and awesome advancements in storage), space telescopes, and hot/cold running water but reject the planet destroying plagiarism enrich the worst people bots!

People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

Got a box of Turkish delight (with no gelatin in it, per Tasting History) for like $9 at Costco and it is, in fact, The Stuff. The texture is like if marshmallows actually dissolved on a decent timeline, and the flavors are really good :)

Maybe I'm just weird, but when I ask "how do you install transition strips?" what I really want to know is "will it fuck up the integrity of my floor if I nail this stuff down?" and a yes-or-no answer would have been really nice (the answer is: it's fine as long as you don't mind a small hole there)

I think I'm the only person who monitors the Spotify charts closely enough to notice a potentially huge single rising up the charts, it's almost in the top 50 and I'm curious to see how far it can go. Can find nothing about the artist, White Noise Radiance, I don't get how there's so little coverage

Today is the first day of Ramadan, the first day of Adar, Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras.

This means that for one reason or another, the majority of humans on the planet have a reason to eat fried food, and that is beautiful.
Ramadan Mubarak!

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Laissez bon temps rouler!

Hodesh Adar tov!

This is disgusting, and dehumanizing, and unfortunately coming to damn near every platform you can think of. Multilingualism isn’t an inconvenience to be “solved” by technology. We have to push back.
Discovered today that Instagram had turned on (without my opt-in) automatic AUDIO translation of any reel that shows up in my feed not in English USING AI TO MIMIC THE SPEAKER’S VOICE and WOW it was creepy and upsetting.

You can turn it off in “Language & Translations” in Settings. 🙅🏻‍♀️

I think it’s time for Democratic leaders to start saying “if you’re a pilot or ground crew involved in a deportation that was stayed by a judge, you’ll be held criminally liable for human trafficking.” Everyone involved in these flights should have that fear in the back of their minds.
Overnight, this probable ICE flight landed in Benin and is now returning to Senegal, likely for a crew layover.
