Remember: LLMs and bots and AI-generated things should always be called ‘it’. Regardless of the style or tone of voice, there is only an ‘it’ there. Don’t humanize it.

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

If you're using Ubuntu or a derivative, and the default Snap version of Firefox: use Mozilla's Flatpak from flathub instead. Snappier on complex sites especially, and behaves better & cleaner on Wayland. This also keeps sandboxing vs. using a plain binary package.
(Same for the LibreWolf flatpak.)

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Even when there are no obvious artifacts, the generated images often have a weird uncanny sheen to them that I personally find vaguely revolting. I can’t really turn that reaction off.

I'm increasingly certain that Fedora 43 / #KDE is the best workstation environment I've ever used in my 20 years of oscillating between different distros and desktops.
