I always cook too much, and send meals 2-3x a week to elderly family friend who won't cook much anymore.

Too many leftovers get thrown away so why not share instead? There are so many of these elderly individuals who could use our help, if we only tried.

My elderly neighbor lost his wife several weeks ago, and he's been struggling. But over the past month, his teen granddaughter and her friends have been visiting almost daily. I try to drop him off a meal or goodies at least once a week, and his spirits have improved so much since the girls' visits.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

I get the sense that a staggeringly high percentage of guys who earnestly say with some regularity “fuck around and find out” simply do not understand that the real life versions of the street or bar fight they are picturing typically last a few seconds, don’t have defined winners, and look stupid

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country

Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
