There are some historical events where I recall the feeling of learning about them, the gut-punch of “how could I not know this?” MOVE, Tulsa, Cap Arcona … I remember reading about Khmer Rouge for the first time in an Air Canada in-flight magazine. But MOVE was the most uncanny and so revealing.

[November 13th, 1945] Lieut. Robert Hampton "Hammy" Gray of Nelson, B.C., was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his heroic attack on a Japanese destroyer during World War II, which cost him his life. He was the 13th Canadian to receive the honor and the first Canadian Navy member to do so.
