Yup, and pushing back with 'not just men' is disingenuous. Men have had all of history to defend their fellow human beings; they opted to take unfair advantage at every turn.

men were prevented from abusing animals in England before they were prevented from abusing their wives. generally, men have been happy to go along with unmerited advantage. we don't know how women would behave absent the male threat. maybe we should find out, just in case it's good for humanity.

reflect on the fact that men have prevented women from having the freedom to pursue their desires, potential, and full ability to contribute to the world for most of history. adult women were forced to have a man's signature in order to have a bank account as little as 50 years ago.

the need to assume male behavior to gain power is a reflection on men. no one can be certain about how women would behave if men were not so prone to violence, but the record shows that women more often opt to be fair even when the outcome doesn't privilege them. men created the status quo. period.
