If anyone has any poems with a strong sense of place that would be accessible for young children (aged 6-11) please drop them in the replies. Bonus points for urban settings, especially London, and bonus-bonus points for themes of home and/or community.

One of the wickedest things Wes Streeting has ever done is push politically convenient falsehoods about suicide rates amongst young trans people. We have new data from the National Child Mortality Database that exposes the truth he tried to cover up.
New data shows surge in trans kids’ suicides following healthcare rollbacks | Good Law Project
A freedom of information request by Good Law Project has found that deaths by suicide of trans young people under 18 surged following the withdrawal of gender-affirming healthcare

Reflecting on how silly CBT is for those who have a chemical imbalance and not a thinking pattern problem this morning, when I reacted to a burst water pipe/minor flood with: “At least one of us was awake, neither of us were at work, it wasn’t raining outside, the cats are safely in my bedroom…”

We're almost at our target to be able to take this family's case to the European Court of Human Rights.

No survivor should face harm from the system that is meant to protect them.

Help us reach our target

The law has failed a woman and her child – fight back
No survivor should face harm from the very system that is meant to protect them. No child should have to carry an abuser’s name. It’s time to change the system.

It’s consistently gut wrenching to see children being scapegoated by adults for their selfish political agendas, with no regard for the impact on their health and happiness. Wishing peace and pride to the little girl in this article.

Reminds me of the USA’s “ugly laws.” Simply by existing and living our lives (in this case, working to keep the population healthy) our existence is deemed offensive. It’s funny that the right characterise us as overly sensitive when apparently they feel harassed by our audacity to breathe.

Just four complaints were made about trans+ people using bathrooms over two years across 382 public services, a new FOI has found.

In every case, the complaint was about policy - not an individual (via @translucent.org.uk)

If only there was as much effort put into improving youth services, making sports, arts and crafts available and affordable, and making the physical environment more 'teen-friendly' as there is for banning kids from social media or taking their phones away.

“but I have no skills!” really? could you:

• map at-risk communities by tapping squares at mapswipe.org

• provide visual descriptions for blind people at bemyeyes.com

• or click a button to donate to charitable organisations for free at greatergood.com?

you can always make the world better.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of finding one constructive real world offline thing you can do to use your particular skills in service of fighting fascism as a psychological defense against the constant drumbeat of fuckery
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

No source I can find that corresponds with this screenshot. I know we want to believe this, but would urge people to think before circulating.

What would be the incentive to create and spread this in a left-leaning space, if not to convince us that Reform isn’t a threat, and can be safely ignored?
Nobody could have predicted this.

In this Year of Reading, a gentle reminder:
The best way to get your kids reading is to let them see *you* reading. The way to *stop* your kids reading is to criticize their choices, or to make reading a competition, or a punishment, or a race, or a learning tool. Let it be fun. Let them read.

It’s a little disheartening to enquire specifically, “Are trans people welcome in this space?” and get, “We don’t have a policy, but EVERYONE is welcome!” Feels a little “all lives matter.”

If you don’t have a policy of inclusion, people can and will point to that as a justification to exclude.

I think The Express needs to find their Xmas spirit.

We're paying £476m for a regime that tear gasses babies & destroys shelters in freezing conditions.

We should divert that money to a functioning and fair migration system.

Tune in to @boldpolitics.bsky.social at 3pm tomorrow.

The human cost of AI: the real people, hired as "data labellers" and other euphemisms (after signing non-disclosure agreements) paid a pittance, and enduring immense harm in the process.

A devastating anatomy of how tech companies exploit, dehumanize, and ultimately replace human beings.

Most profound writing I read in 2026 was "The Emotional Labor Behind AI Intimacy" by a Nairobi man who dreamed of working in air traffic control but instead winds up sexting & chatting w ppl who think they're talking to AI (while AI trains on him). 16 pages & free - READ IT data-workers.org/michael/
