I would only trade our Devon lifestyle for a palazzo in Venice, or a Villa on the Venice Lido.

Zero confusion about what Europeans should do.

Acquire capabilities necessary for defense of Europe. Smartly reduce vulnerabilities to coercion & blackmail by China & US. Invest in revival of European industry & technology. Work together where interests are aligned.

It‘s quite simple.

Great to welcome Keir Starmer to Putney to announce new action to keep children safe online.

From tackling illegal AI content to speeding up powers to restrict harmful features, this is about giving children the childhood they deserve and parents real peace of mind. (1/2)

Let me just make a few little adjustments to that title…

“How a scientist with a PhD in Geology and 25 years of experience is helping lead California’s earthquake work”

Way to devalue my experience.

Another misleading headline from the Times. Read the article and it’s clear, a failure to meet a five year plan for maintenance is the fundamental problem.

The real story here is that privatised grid owners have failed to maintain our power networks - this is not a net zero issue it’s the failure of private monopolies to run our vital national infrastructure properly.

Mike Lindell is asked to explain why he has spent over half of the $350,000 in campaign contributions he’s taken in buying copies of his own book. He says he hands them out instead of fliers and “we got them for a good price.”

Yesterday some people on the internet chose to send me extremely hurtful emails filled with negativity:

I think it's wrong to describe the World Service as "soft power". It's actually "info power". And these days that's a very hard form of power indeed.

This would be national vandalism on a MAGAesque scale
My book about Britain ends with a memory.
Of the first time I ever worked at Broadcasting House as a guest commentator, what that meant to me, and what the BBC means for 🇬🇧’s place in the world.
The idea that the World Service could end is awful, and frankly embarrassing for the British Government.
And another bites the dust?

The BBC World Service will run out of funding in just seven weeks. Its funding arrangement with the Foreign Office finishes at the end of March. There is no plan for what happens next.

This. Why throw away one of the tools for countering Russian disinformation when it’s never been so important. Especially with US antics going on.
All those conferences I have participated in with top officials with very concerned faces going on and on about soft power and countering Chinese influence, Russian disinformation, it is all terrible, etc…

Guys.
Fund. The. BBC.

If you don't like the current Government just buy the Daily Mail as a comfort blanket, but don't tell pollsters that you are going to vote Reform (because you likely won't)

I like the government pivot to reminding voters that Farage is an avowed enemy of NATO & Europe & an ardent admirer of Vladimir Putin, who routinely orders the murders of critics & opponents. It is politically effective & morally essential.
