My book about Britain ends with a memory.
Of the first time I ever worked at Broadcasting House as a guest commentator, what that meant to me, and what the BBC means for 🇬🇧’s place in the world.
The idea that the World Service could end is awful, and frankly embarrassing for the British Government.
And another bites the dust?

The BBC World Service will run out of funding in just seven weeks. Its funding arrangement with the Foreign Office finishes at the end of March. There is no plan for what happens next.

This. Why throw away one of the tools for countering Russian disinformation when it’s never been so important. Especially with US antics going on.
All those conferences I have participated in with top officials with very concerned faces going on and on about soft power and countering Chinese influence, Russian disinformation, it is all terrible, etc…

Guys.
Fund. The. BBC.

Imagine being so "patriotic" that you protest the Royal National Lifeboat Institute for saving lives.
Racist morons fuelled by hate.

If you don't like the current Government just buy the Daily Mail as a comfort blanket, but don't tell pollsters that you are going to vote Reform (because you likely won't)

They are places I haven't been, languages I don't speak, foods I haven't tried, books I haven't read, and people I haven't met. I wake up every day excited to learn about the world and the things in it. What separates me (and us!) from the gutter racists is that we see existence as joyful.

I like the government pivot to reminding voters that Farage is an avowed enemy of NATO & Europe & an ardent admirer of Vladimir Putin, who routinely orders the murders of critics & opponents. It is politically effective & morally essential.

Please be careful in London. I have spent 25 years there, but I have never heard a story as frightening as this one from today in which nothing at all happened.

'Three Fishermen.' (c1913) While nearby Penzance burgeoned as a holiday resort, Newlyn in Cornwall remained a working port supporting a tightly knit community. In Harold Harvey's painting, we see him using a naturalistic style reminiscent of painters such as Dod Procter.

Whoa! Didn’t expect to wake up to this news.

“A year into Trump’s term, voters say Biden was better.”

Trump’s net approval on the economy is now -18. That’s 26 points worse than this point in his first term and a brutal 53 points lower among independents.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.
European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women"
The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.
