I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

The onslaught of cruelty is the psychological equivalent of chemical warfare. It’s tear gas that targets normal healthy emotions. The only way not to be harmed by it is to seal yourself off from other people’s suffering: refuse to recognize the abuse, shut down your empathy for the victims, or both.

I keep marveling at the classical/modern design fusion. It’s like a theme park imagineer created a musical instrument. The attention to detail is wonderful. The INSIDE of the bass is stained black, just to make the f-hole look perfect. I love the way it looks, sounds, and feels. It’s functional art.
I wanted a fretless, but with fret *lines* and marker dots, but sounding like an upright, but shaped like an Ibanez Soundgear bass, but understated and refined…*but* also a visual statement? And lo, it is everything I was hoping for.

It’s a work of art.

Playing it feels like singing with my hands.

I got myself something to do while it snows. 𝄢🧵
So, I got this thing.

It’s an Ibanez SRH500F semi-hollow fretless bass. It looks like an upright bass that wished on a star and woke up as an instrument you can wear. It sounds like that, too.

Photos don’t quite capture the subtlety of the colors. The Ibanez Bass Workshop knocked this out of park.

I am for bulldozing it all when we’re on the other side of this. ICE facilities? Bulldoze. The concentration camps? Bulldoze. The ballroom? Bulldoze. Plant tomatoes there. Put in a skate park. Build a monument to immigrants. Whatever. Don’t give a shit. Just bulldoze it all first.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.

Is it insurrection if you resist people who are violating the Constitution? Seriously, is it?
Respectfully, look at this fucking bullshit that we’re dealing with, not a single person here has “taken the bait.” We have born witness as little kids are used as bait and neighbors are kidnapped on our streets. A mad dipshit is going to invoke the Insurrection Act regardless and you are blaming us
Violence only helps Trump & may provide him an excuse to further trample our rights by invoking the Insurrection Act.

Good thread from someone who knows what they're talking about. A little bit of real journalism that's better than anything we're likely to see in a corporate media outlet.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

They have built their persona on the principle that all behavior is performative and sincerity is purely a defensive camouflage. They are so white-knuckle attached to that persona that the acknowledgment of genuine goodness is an existential threat to their ego: It would prove that they’re not real.
They need all protestors to be paid operatives because they cannot abide the possibility that somewhere in the world, people sincerely believe in standing up for others. It isn’t enough that they’ve chased all moral virtue from their own hearts. They want a world where no virtue exists in anyone.
Trump on Renee Good: "When she was shot, there was another woman that was screaming 'Shame. Shame Shame Shame.' So loud. Like a professional opera singer. She was so loud. And so professional. She wasn't a woman that was hurt like, 'Oh my heart is injured.' She was a professional."
