36.
I once saw a college dorm bathroom with dedicated faucets labeled “190° STEAMING HOT WATER” and have been thinking about the clarity of that description for 35 years.
I got some black tea for Christmas that had instructions for 90° water instead of boiling and I didn’t notice until I had used some of it. 90° was SO MUCH better!!

Once I ran out of that box I tried my regular Yorkshire at 90° and it is also nicer that way!!

It’s my opinion that the U.S. owes Latin America at least two centuries of just absolutely leaving them alone.

The people who gained power by accusing everyone else of conspiring to commit crimes are the ones actually in a conspiracy committing crimes. Who’d have thought.

“Awareness and conviction and repair and inclusion hurt abuse, even if the abuser doesn’t participate. This means we don't need the permission of abusers to get started at dismantling abuse.

“How. About. That?”
Today I wrote about our white supremacist political movement's perverse insistence that "we don't have to apologize for being white anymore."

Conservatives have been apologizing, apparently. Did you know? I had no idea. So I asked, and here's what I found.

Apologies For Being White
How supremacists convert responsibility into blame to avoid paying natural costs and to make everyone else pay unnatural ones.

The weird truth is that rugged individualism breeds conformity because it tolerates only one kind of person: the rugged individualist.
they’re going to want to kill him for this but he’s so right, individualism as an ideology needs to end

This is a VERY good example to set.
I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

one unexpected outlook change from being a dad is taking the self care people 10x more seriously when it comes to dealing with weirdly directed anger and rage (including Online). many angry posts should have been naps or little packets of crackers

Finally watched this. It’s comprehensive and Jenny is excellent. And it’s not just the downfall of the Galactic Starcruiser; it’s the decline of Disney's whole park experience.

My last WDW trip was in January 2020, the fourth in three years, my twelfth with my family. I have no intention to return.
I’m way late to this one, but the four-hour Galactic Starcruiser retrospective by Jenni Nicholson is, indeed, incredible.

It took me a week or so to get through, finding time here and time there, but at no point was I bored.

For the right kind of nerd, well worth it.

“I know many deadline-focused procrastinators who masterfully complete their projects at the last minute, but like most of us, I was taught to see their accomplishments as luck instead of understand that they focus on deadlines instead of tasks.”

Karla, did you write this *specifically* for me?

most people learn from some manager at their first shitty retail job that you do not have to respect what a person says just because their position should, in theory, be held by someone who knows what they're talking about

So often it's when you're not even trying to find them

You're shovelling the end of your driveway, and you look for no reason into your woods

I had heard she was here a week ago. Maybe she left? Went deeper into the marsh nearby...

No, she's watching you shovel 30 feet away👀
