Today marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Dietrich Bonhoeffer- German protestant theologian and resister to Naziism executed in 1945. Cosely linked to the ecumenical movement, his insights remain a continuing challenge to ecumenism today.

Latin America's Cold War experience is very often overlooked or simply used as a backdrop to the US-Soviet conflict, without recognizing that local actors all have agency and influence. Looking forward to this!

@deborahcole.bsky.social I couldn’t make it back to the Oderquelle to say goodbye so instead while in London came to the German Gymnasium (recommended by outgoing German amb) for an Entenbraten which I often had there

This is tragic. Stammresto (if in Berlin) since 1999.
If you needed 1 more thing to be bereft about in January 2026, Berlin's Oderquelle, a perfect Prenzlauer Berg institution since 1990, is closing its doors for good this Sunday

When I was a student at Cambridge an Ametican at the gates of St John's asked me if there was a rest room somewhere. I had never come across this euphemism and had no idea what he was looking for. I gestured vaguely in the direction of the JCR and said, I'm sure you could sit down and rest there.
