Teesside’s freeport, initiated in 2021 under Rishi Sunak, has cost £560 million far exceeding the standard £25 million allocation (22 times the standard £25m).
90% profits go to the private sector.
This clearly shows the UK model of State aid post-Brexit is utterly corrupt.

The demise of employers such as ICI, British Waterways, British Rail, the Water Board etc, ruined British Society. All 'inefficient' in their own way but provided employment, structure, cohesion & integration. Their successors only benefitted millionaire owners & shareholders. Thatcherism.

No doubt about it. When I was in school employers came to the schools trying to encourage leavers to work for them. ICI ,BICC, NCB etc etc ,what was meant to be a conveyor belt to a life time of employment and all the spins offs of family, community etc. That ended in the late 70s.

ICI towns taken over by Ineos or TATA for example struggle to keep going. Radcliffe & his ilk might have benefitted but local residents have suffered.

Good morning Mary. Flu injection done for me. I asked about roll out of COVID booster for 70+ from our local ICB (integrated care board). 75+ only, plus immunosuppressed & some kids. Apparently it is cost effective to limit a £25 (ish) jab to 75+ although a £100 (ish) jab is available. ☕💉☕
