AI will boost the economy, the OBR forecast, except... "Our analysis suggests AI will likely provide a smaller boost to productivity growth over the next five years than the ICT revolution did before 2008."

Hardly the economic panacea that AI firms and some in government have been claiming AI will be....
Anyway, tech-wise, AI will have a "positive effect on productivity growth", the OBR say, with a 0.2 percentage point impact in five years

A question of when, not if.

Then ‘when’ will partially be determined by when stumps needs a distraction for the press.
BREAKING

President Trump is considering removing Kash Patel as FBI director in the coming months, as he and his top aides have grown increasingly frustrated by the unflattering headlines Patel has recently generated.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

So he racially abused people, but he did it in a nice way?

Sorry but these evasive non-answers are damning. If he wasn't afraid of more people/evidence coming forward, he'd say no.

I'd like to see the response to this if the question added "if that that means universities have less money to spend on UK students".
With Rachel Reeves reportedly set to apply a new tax on tuition fees paid by overseas students, most Britons support such a move at the previously mooted level of 6%

Support: 57%
Oppose: 18%

Precisely. This interpretation of ‘balance’ would involve the broadcast of a program in which Harris blatantly & repeatedly lied about winning a Presidential election she had lost & then encouraged her supporters to ‘fight like hell’ against the upholders of the actual result.
Prescott keeps repeating "I thought they'd show a programme about Harris the week after". He really doesn't understand the difference between balance, impartiality and objectivity.

Key thing is that this is % that have "ever" used the platforms.

I would hazard a guess that the % that actively use X/Twitter on a daily/weekly basis is a lot, lot lower now than it was a few years ago.
UPDATE: Americans who use
YouTube 84%
Facebook 71%
Instagram 50%
TikTok 37%
WhatsApp 32%
Reddit 26%
Snapchat 25%
X (Twitter) 21%
Threads 8%
Bluesky 4%
Truth Social 3%

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Between this and the whole grok gassing up elon thing it’s been an amazing week for new features on x dot com
Grand opening, grand closing.

X quietly disabled a new feature that showed which country an account was posting from when it revealed that lots of popular right wing MAGA accounts were being run from foreign countries like India and Nigeria.

Framing his dangerous unhinged views as “challenge scientific orthodoxy” is not responsible journalism.

It employs the ‘conflict frame’ to suggest there is a legitimate debate to be had here.

There isn’t.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

Purely a political move to position herself for a post-Trump era.

What would be a funny outcome from this meeting is if parts of the MAGA movement start to question Trump's senility and whether he's started to lose his mind/got dementia.

It's so clear that Trump's views are solely based on who ever he last spoke to and nothing else.
Trump has said a number of times that you'd be surprised how much he and Mamdani agree on. (Talks again about building housing, lowering rents.)

Trump: "I expect to be helping him, not hurting him."

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.
