How it's going 🧶 crocheting a filet collar/shawl thing
August 17, 2025 at 3:35 AM
Dreaming up new knitwear ideas... This would be a vest with a split standing collar, featuring eyelets and probably i-cord edging... The original thought is a filet lace design, but this could also be 🧶 knitted and use provisional cast-on for lace in both directions??? Hmm

What are your fav budget sock yarns? What are we knitting 🧶 socks with to get a sock that fits and doesn't fall off the foot? Or develop holes in two wears? Help lol

This book was phenomenal. I devoured it. It was all the medieval sapphic body horror and eldritch-terror-mistaken-for- religious-ecstasy I could have hoped for and more. I was so engulfed in this story. Fav read of the summer!

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

pundits & strategists advised "allies" not to speak up. here are 21 posts about that.

that's how we get from 2016's gubernatorial race-losing "most anti-LGBTQ law in the US" bathroom ban to "you can deny a kind of people access to medicine" in 9 years.

a phenomenal, expensive, coordinated effort.
folks are passing around an “even if the pod save guys are right & trans issues cost the election, we can’t give up on what’s right even if it’s not popular” post & i’d love if you paused, looked at what that cedes & asked “what does this framing get trans people?”

this is a thread of threads.🧵

I've been in a weird creative rut/low energy period, so I have been doing a lot more reading lately. Finished the first (so good!); Started the second; almost finished the third (which I had dragged ass on for over a year til now)

The Senate reconciliation bill retains the trans healthcare Medicaid/CHIP ban.

Call your Senators, we still have a good shot at killing this provision.

Hundreds of thousands of people rely on this care.

You know you can just not use AI, right?

You can make a choice not to be part of this.

To be clear, I'm not an "I make all my own clothes" person bc I am that dedicated to environmental sustainability (though it's a nice thought); I make most of my own clothes because it's more accessible for me to expend time and use secondhand scraps than to afford new clothes that fit me right.

I don’t think this is a hot take, but as someone who loves sewing and fashion and design, and who appreciates the theme chosen for this year, I can’t help but have a hard time enjoying the spectacle, excess, and waste of the Met Gala... when average garment workers don't make a living wage.

🧶yarn pattern writing peeps! What are your preferred annotations for a pattern with multiple colors? Writing "(MC) for main color and (CC1) or (CC2) for contrast colors is feeling a bit clunky? I'm trying to transcribe a colorwork crochet pattern for a hat... Any tech editors here have advice?
