Shame on every organisation and person that continues to condone racism by remaining on Musk's platform.
X is in clear + systemic breach of its legal duties in the UK to remove unlawful content from its platform.

Proof: when X users abuse + harass others with the racial slur "paki", X reporting system defends the racist abuse in more than 90% of cases reported.

A new thread documenting this.

It’s profoundly worrying that so many politicians and journalists, continue to use this platform which is increasingly a space for hate speech and far right propaganda. It’s having a serious impact on the state of national discourse. Government should at the very least make X abide by the law.

Where are the Starmer apologists as he yet afuckinggain fumbles a fucking obvious open fucking goal. Seriously man, the one possible good that could come from this would have been getting Gibb and Shah axed and you can't even do that. What are you for?
"Robbie Gibb should have no role in appointing the next Director General, and given the Royal Charter gives the government the power to remove him will the Prime Minister sack him now?" asks Ed Davey.

Starmer says he won't interfere in running the BBC

Just throwing this out there - has anyone considered that it might be better if we don't go following the USA's descent into fascism? Just a thought..

This is pretty much where we are - both in the UK and the USA.

That final point is absolutely crucial.
The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

When you look at the growing far-right online media eco-system in many Western countries, you quickly get a sense of a completely different perception of what constitutes reality and basic facts, long before you get to difference on opinion or perception.

This is the most deranged situation. We are literally being kicked about by fake-newsers threatening to bankrupt our own public service broadcaster, to shield an insurrectionist from a reality that he can’t accept.

Tory culture spox demanding the BBC "grovel" to Trump is baffling. Who is this supposed to chime with?

Just a bizarre line that no one who doesn't use X would ever think.

I think, as an American who studied the speech to assess whether it constituted unlawful incitement, the BBC edit was poor journalistic form, but it did not convey something substantively different than reality. My thing? The apology doesn’t convey to me that the BBC gets Trump isn’t a fair broker.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

The utter preposterousness of this interview. A media figure talking about BBC bias while describing the president as his "friend". A child could see trough it.
It’s already started - the BBC allows Newsmax boss to opine about bias, suggest some of the Jan 6 mob were merely innocent tourists visiting Congress, without pushback

You can be assured that tendentious memo by Michael Prescott, and the co-ordinated combination of the Telegraph, Mail, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and the White House means that the BBC hit job has been long in the planning, and has some insider help

It was always abundantly clear that the last government's appointees to the BBC board were there to undermine it from the inside whilst promoting right wing ideology to turn its natural allies against it.

Whole fucking thing makes me sick to my stomach. An abject fucking liar, a man who lies as easily as he fucking breathes, threatening an organisation which strives for truthfulness. And plastic patriots like the Mail and Farage urging him on. Jackels.

Pains me to say it but I think this is true. Some of my colleagues in the media who’ve stayed on X don’t even realize how badly its noxious algorithm is skewing their perception of politics and reality.

Also, that place seems designed to make you miserable unless you’re a Nazi. It’s just wretched.
Tonight's even more proof the mainstream reporters who are still on Twitter are suffering from a brain problem akin Havana Syndrome that is preventing them from accurately doing their jobs. They are being cooked alive by a snuff-focused apartheid algorithm.
