America is for sale.
“Apple set the tone” when Tim Cook gave Trump an engraved, glass disc. This week, the Swiss delegation gave him a “special Rolex desktop clock” and a $130,000 gold bar.

“.. It was tough to beat Apple, but the Swiss did it," an administration official told @axios.com

This is cool. COURIER has created a searchable database with all 20,000 of the files just released from Epstein’s estate.

Trump's name appears in them more than anyone else, in 1,628 documents.

Who the hell are these people who are anxiously awaiting being able to pass off every mundane task of life to AI agents? Geez Louise, how about just adulting? Using some executive functioning to get your shit done? Or just having fun browsing Etsy or eBay or Amazon for gifts for half an hour?

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)

Yes, GOP, please make this your messaging talking point. It’ll go over *great* with everyone I know who has a daughter, especially one under the age of 18. 😡
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Funny, we managed a 35-day fed shutdown not too long ago without permanent damage to the statistical system, but those few extra days now killed it dead. Just in time for major job losses and tariff impacts.
So the Jobs number was that bad.

So our entire economic well being hinges on a company with $20B in revenues spending $1.4T on AI infrastructure when there isn’t enough electricity generated on the planet to power that many data centers?

No matter how damning you think this report is going to be, it’s worse. I promise you it is worse.
(Reuters) - Meta internally projected late last year that it would earn about 10% of its overall annual revenue – or $16 billion – from running advertising for scams and banned goods, internal company documents show.

www.wired.com/story/maga-r... All this is similar to when Sadiq Khan became London’s mayor in 2016. Tories called it “Londonistan,” and his opponents claimed he’s affiliated with radical Islamists. When Khan was reelected for a 3rd term last year, he was heckled by racist rightwingers.

Nothing Trump himself is doing caused the election wipeout, of course. Not tariffs. Not indiscriminate ICE raids. Not threatening foreign wars or blowing up fishermen. Not ignoring laws. Just Congress’s fault that they let the government shut down.

He’s a true megalomaniac.
Trump to Republican senators: "I thought we'd have a discussion after the press leaves about what last night represented and what we should do about it and also about the shutdown and how that relates to last night. If you read the pollsters, the shutdown was a big factor, negative for Republicans."

Yup. It turns out massively destabilizing trade in and out of the country is bad for people importing to build factories in order to export stuff.

Also, they’ve pretty much killed CHIPS and Science, the largest domestic manufacturing bill in recent history.

He was shot after getting out of his car to tell the agents, who had pulled over a vehicle, that children would soon be gathering in that spot for the school bus.

A terrific article by Jonathan V. Last with facts on how Trump is nationalizing US industry — a hallmark of socialism and “controlling the means of production.” I put a helpful screenshot from it in the comments.
