Good morning Bluesky Folks!
Here is a picture of a Dunnock that I Captured on Wednesday While on a Short Walk Captured on a Canon EOS R50
The image shows a small songbird perched on a thin, bare branch of a deciduous tree. The background is a clear pale blue sky, and the tree has no leaves, suggesting late winter or early spring, with some small buds visible on the branches. The bird has: - A slender, compact body with a relatively long, narrow tail that points downward. - Grayish head, neck, and underparts (breast and belly appear pale gray). - Brownish upperparts with dark streaking on the back and wings. - A thin, pointed black beak (not thick/conical like a finch or sparrow). - Dark eyes with a subtle eye-ring. The bird is viewed in profile, facing left, and is partially framed by overlapping twigs. The overall coloration is subdued and cryptic, helping it blend with the branches. This bird strongly resembles a **Dunnock** (Prunella modularis), also known as the hedge sparrow or hedge accentor, a common Eurasian species often seen skulking in shrubs and hedges. The plain gray head, streaked brown mantle, slender bill, and shuffling posture are characteristic features.
