Saw the story, brain went 🧐, googled what’s in the east wing, and found out the PEOC (presidential emergency operations center) — the panic bunker — sits under it.

So now I’m certain that “big beautiful ballroom” is a cover for expanding the PEOC into a hidden, maximum security residence.
