And more pressingly, is this the year I finally drag a group to the nearby bowling center to play Raceway Alley?

When I was active in Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, an official tourney rule was “You must play to win.” Are you dead in the water? You have to see it through and not roll over.

To this day, people in my board game group who are in a bad position let out a heavy sigh and say, “gotta play to win.”

RiffTrax is definitely the Stephen King of movie riffing; brilliant writing, unrelentingly prolific, and stubbornly local. I can also recall at least one scary clown in their body of work.
In the not-too-distant future, RiffTrax is making four new episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000! Support us on Kickstarter: rifftraxmakesmst3k.com #RiffTraxMakesMST3K @mst3kofficial.bsky.social

In case you missed it yesterday, two new games are up for preorder!
Oh hey! New games are up for preorder at www.newmillindustries.com!

The Fluffy Rite is an oddball trick taker in which there are no ranks on the cards - you play two suited cards together to form teddy bears (illustrated by my 16 year old son) and you're aiming to win the second-most tricks.

I am not joking when I say I sincerely hope all 4 episodes take place in that apartment at the end of Diabolik.

My wife, for a couple years now, occasionally surprises me with MAD magazine compilations when she comes back from the grocery store.

It’s one of those unique small gestures that tugs at my heartstrings every time. I never expect it, I always appreciate it.

We need a good game culling, and I’ve made a pile of games to go, but for whatever reason the actual “getting rid of them” part feels overwhelming.

Goodwill is a fast option, but a good chance they just languish there. Selling them is a lot of extra work online, and local opportunity is limited.

My cat used to snuggle with me pretty regularly, but she has now discovered the heating vent, and I now understand my role in this relationship.

When the Rennes en Jeux festival told me I would be receiving a 2026 Lizzie Magie Award for my writing, games, and video work, they asked for a short statement, which was read aloud at a festival event.

This is what I wrote:

I have to revise my comments a bit; I’ve tried a couple times this week to get into a match, and it said all current games were full…which I am suspecting is code for “nobody’s online right now.” Not as easy to get into a random match as it was the first night I tried it. (1/2)
How has it taken me this long to play RiffTrax: the Game?

I had always assumed I needed a group, and never put in the effort to find one; but I tried the random matching tonight and liked it. A little hit or miss on the group you get, but a nice option to have.

Now I need to find a proper group.

A goal this year is to seek and watch more MTV air checks.

I stumbled onto one today that had a video I’d never seen, by a band I’d never heard of, which would never have been organically recommended to me by any recommendation algorithm. And in that moment I decided, “yes, more of these please.”

Do you have an online TTRPG group that could use a change of pace? Are you an actual play streamer looking to do something a little different? I’m capturing episodes of my game show for posterity, and would love to record one with you on it!
I did virtual game shows for years, but have surprisingly little evidence of it; including no recorded footage of my 5 main game sets.

I’d like to change that in 2026!

If you’d like to play Mall Night Long for FREE, and don’t mind being recorded for posterity, get in touch! Details in the thread…

Welp, there’s March 26th sorted.
These fraught times call for a show with what is either an intentionally or unintentionally hilarious title, and which I will be talking about for the rest of the year

I was today years old when I learned Lucille Ball put her face on a crossword inspired board game.

I would play this in a heartbeat.

One thing about the world of indie RPGs, that I wish could magically migrate over to Board Games: all the weird punk-rock indie projects that are hugely wild swings. Games powered by 3 parts vibes to 2 parts “this could be a prank”. It’s a very specific vibe that few board games have.

I’m playing this roguelike where you go out and try to remove all the snow. I’ve had three runs today and I’ve gotten some cool buffs like Every Muscle Hurts, Sleep Deprivation, and Snowblower Battery Quit Because Too Much snow. I’m having so much fun I’m gonna make another run early tomorrow. 7/10.

A few days left to download any purchases before the store shutters, including Roll Estate.
I share with a heavy heart that PNP Arcade announced today they will be closing their store. The reasons are absolutely understandable, and they have been nothing but a tremendous partner.

I’ll find out a new home for Roll Estate down the line; for now, here’s the announcement.
